The best french toast I've ever had. We got Great Maple French Toast Logs and California Chorizo and split them before the two of us. The french toast was perfect and it paired nicely with the chorizo. This is a brunch place you can not miss in San Diego.

Great service, great food! My friends who live in SD brought me here and it was once of my favorite breakfast/brunches! It's is unpretentious and oh so good. The sizes are substantial, the flavors are great and the staff was kind. I got the morracan iced tea and it was so well balanced between sweetness and mint. My friend got the caramel latte and it was one of the best we ever had. I got the egg breakfast add bacon and adding bacon is a great deal, $4 for 4 high quality bacon strips! You also get a ton of eggs that a re light and fluffy. The bread was also great. The French toast logs were huge and deliciously buttery, sweet, and pillowy. The fries are also great and so is the BLT! Parking lot isn't that but street parking wasn't hard to find :)

We went on a Monday, so the patio was pretty empty but, they made sure that we were taken care of. They brought our puppy water and gave us impeccable service. The food was amazing every single bite.

San Diego Restaurant Week March 2024 I love SDRW!! But I always fear that after I'd be disappointed and hungry after. Not with Great Maple. First off.. service was excellent. Water was always filled! Very attentive without being over bearing. The ambiance is romantic and cozy if that's what you feel it's also homey and relaxing.. again if that's what you feel. The restaurant evokes what you feel. If that makes any sense. Anyways.. food! We wanted to of course try the SDRW menu. The price was $40 prefix. There was several options for apps, entrees and dessert. We decided to first go off the menu and get the portobello fries with the pesto aioli. The fries crispy but soft. The aioli was so delicious. Then our apps came out. I got the mushroom soup and Chris got the crab cakes. We shared and both were amazing. The crab cake was filled with tons on crab meat. The soup was creamy and warm and gave a soft feel in the mouth. The waitstaff came to clean up but something told us to keep the aioli. The entrees came out. Chris got the duck with pea risotto and I got the steak frites. The duck was tender and juicy. Wonderful risotto with a bit of bite to the rice. The steak was perfectly cooked. The fries were thick.. now the leftover aioli... dip the fries in them! Omg life changing but not really. The dessert we both got eat the chocolate pot de creme. Great way to end the meal. Now we always eat with our eyes and we knew they have the best bacon maple donuts., so yeah we got them too! We only ate half and doggie bagged the rest. Saturday we had them for dessert. We did see the table next to us getting the Cioppino and it was hugeee!!! Omg this was a great dinner! Pics to come.

Great maple definitely surprised me. On the outside it looks like a whole in the wall breakfast place. Once inside the ambiance was beautiful the blue hues and gold trim. My daughter could not stop staring at the bar area because she said it was so esthetically pleasing. She chose the fruity pebble pancakes when asking her how was it she said "it taste like pancakes with fruity pebbles on top" she was not impressed considering the price point of it. They also were a little hard to cut into so that was a downer. I ordered the California chorizo melt it was definitely not what I expected it did not taste like chorizo at all to me and they added way too much peppers and onions in it that at some point grossed me out so I stopped eating it. If you're expecting Mexican flavors in this dish I do not recommend at all. The bread was probably the best part for me ironically. Potatoes were okay nothing crazy. The service was great the waitress was super attentive. I think for the price point it wasn't worth it for us as a family but I would definitely would go back to do appetizers and drinks.

Friendly service and delicious food. Was a great perfect little spot for a brunch session with family or friends! Came here during San Diego's restaurant week and was able to snag this 3 course meal for only $25. My favorite was the chicken sandwhxih and mushroom soup! Would definitely be back to try other items

Came on a Sunday morning pretty early. We got sat immediately outside with a heat lamp and were plenty warm. We ordered the maple bacon donuts to share. I am not a big sweets person, but they were quite tasty. I just had a half of one, and that was perfect. For my main course I got the squash blossom and corn cake. I found it to be very unique, and I loved all the flavors and textures. The service there was outstanding. Several servers were pitching in to help each other at all the tables, and a manager came by as well. Our water and coffee stayed full, and we had everything we needed. I had come another time in the past, which was good as well. I will definitely be back. Just make sure on weekends to do a reservation or go nice and early. It is always busy, but for good reason. Good food and good service.

Brunch reservations are a must - or else expect to wait a long, long time outside. Thankfully, we are seasoned and hungry brunchers, so of course we had reservations. :) This place is known for their modern spin on "American classics." Think: Fruity Pebbles pancakes, massive french toast, BLT... We got the brunch party started with beignets, mimosas, wine, and their "Famous Pickle Mary" made with - you guessed it - pickle juice and a giant pickle. It was perfect for those needing the extra electrolytes! While my friends went for brunchy options, like a California chorizo breakfast melt served over a skillet and chilaquiles, I opted for a deeeelish and crisp caesar salad with salmon. Food was good, service was good... It's family and group friendly - I rec!

Top notch, food and service. We had Breanne as our waitress and she couldn't have been better. Attention without being annoying. My husband had the apple pie pancakes, which he said were delicious, and I had the hardwood smoked bacon scramble. Super delicious! We plan to come back for sure! Try to sit on the left side as you walk in as there will be less commotion of people walking back-and-forth beside your table.

I always encourage making a reservation here, as the wait can get long. But if you do you are usually sat right when you arrive. The food is unreal. We haven't ordered one thing that we haven't been impressed by. We've been coming for years and will continue to come (especially when we have out of town visitors we want to woo into moving to San Diego!) ambiance is elegant, yet casual but also treated like your at a high quality restaurant (which you are at!). French toast logs, maple bacon doughnuts + any of their scrambles are our tried and true favorites. Also their potatoes are delicious. And if you want to splurge their mimosas are so delightful!

This is a DINER style of restaurant - $20 for a 1/2 sandwich & fries ( fries not great) plus a 4 % surcharge is crazy! Considering the amount you charge you can afford to pay the staff increased wages without having customers pay for it. Your prices are comparable to a nicer restaurant in Del Mar- their prices same however they don't tack on the 4%.

Waitress pelted ice down my sister's back and ran off. The busser who made eye contact with me pointed to the waitress that did it so she had to come back around to my sister to apologize BUT instead of apologizing she acted like she was too busy to say sorry--so instead she dismissively said "you'll be fine, it's not that bad. " as she whimsied away to other tables. Like bro, it was an accident but the way that ice flew into my sisters back had everyone shook, everyone turned around from the sound of impact! The service was already slow and poor before this, and we just wanted to eat as we watched parties who came after us be served then out of nowhere my sister gets pelted by ice. Talk about poor character, the waitress rather have had us think it was the busser than her the way she was scurrying off. Good thing he pointed at her immediately We had a different waitress than the one who pelted my sister with ice, and she was very stale and short with us from the beginning. But the second a larger party came she had all the energy. The best service at this restaurant were from the bussers and food servers. They had great energy and asked us how we were (before the food came or the ice pelting) and if we were enjoying the food. The waitresses on the other hand.... do better! This occurred November 2022, just seeing this place be recommended to me by Yelp made me remember this purgatory of no food, stale waitresses, gaslighting and ice pelting

Had a great experience first time visiting Great Maple. The food was A1, huge portions, and delicious. I had the Smoked Brisket Hash . My girl ordered the French toast logs, she usually doesn't take breakfast leftovers home but we did this time. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back soon
