This vendor stepped up when the vendor who sold my propane fireplace informed me that they couldn't get to me for more than 6 months to discern why my stove wouldn't work. Not only did they schedule me within a few weeks, they corrected the fireplace function and helped me order a new remote. These good folks were incredibly responsive, kind, and respectful. I couldn't recommend them more!

On a Thursday, they sent out a tech to give an estimate on chimney repairs. The tech inspected the job and said he didn't see anything unusual that would be an issue. Great! I just need an estimate so I can schedule the work. By the time they called back Tuesday, the job had become too difficult to do and they backed out. So either the tech that inspected the job was a liar, or the person that decided not to do the work is.
Their prices on stoves are quite high as well. Shopped with them for a new stove, and their prices were almost double the price from other retailers. That alone was not enough for a bad review, but the addition of poor service warrants a review.

Amazing company! I had an issue with my pellet stove, called them and they were out the next day. I wasn’t able to be home so they accommodated that. They fixed the issue and gave a detailed invoice of what happened. Their pricing was also very reasonable. Will def be using going forward

We went to Alternative Heat Source in search of a replacement for our cold-air leaking builder-installed gas fireplace. From sales to install Alternative Heat Source was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and attentive. Korey was super easy to work with, responded quickly and always with information we needed to make a decision. Switching to a pellet fireplace was the best decision for us and we couldn't be more pleased with the result. Highly recommend Alternative Heat Source!

I bought my stove from them years ago. I had an issue with pellet stove not igniting. I replaced the igniter and still nothing after researching online. 15min or so I found others that said there is a fuse in the control pannel that controls the igniter. I didnt want to mess with it so I called alternative heat. They guy came out after I called a second time. Very nice and personable. I told him what was going on and what I found online. He said that he was told by "them" not sure who that is, to never open up the control box because no one will want to work on it. Found that odd but anyway.... He went to thermostat and messed with it and then asked if the stove was plugged in. I said yes beacause all the lights were on behind the pannel we were looking at. Not the greatest confidence builder. he ran the stove and it did exactly like I said. Didnt light and dropped pellets in tray. He hooked a cord up to it for power supply and then packed up. Said I would need a new control.pannel. later on I got a $200 inv for 30 min of doing the same thing I had done. Called and that's the rate for 1st hour. Ok. So be it. New control board cost. Almost $900.00. Then install.No thank you. I looked online at other stove shops and ordered the $2.99 fuse. Unplugged the control board .. undid the 5 little screws. Poped out the fuse. And installed new one. Plugged it back in. And voila. Stove is working. fine. Other stove shops sell the fuse for a reason. It's a replaceable.part. 3 bucks compared to over 900.. come on..... sound like they need a new tech or trying to sell stuff you don't need. Won't ever use them again....

What a wonderful company. They all were educational about the stove I bought, how to care for it and the best pellets to use. Which are the same pellets they use at their own homes. Office staff was very responsive to my many questions. Great Price and Exceptional Service.

I cannot say enough about Kory and the entire team at Alternative Heat. After a lot of comparative research, I decided on Alternative Heat based on the fact that they were a “one stop shop” and could handle all of the aspects of installing a gas insert and surrounding stone fireplace at my home in Casco. They were professional and attentive through every step of the process from the initial consultations to my many follow-up questions and decisions. Kory was a hands-on contractor and had things rolling immediately once I approved the design and purchase. From the building of the frame to the gas and electrical work to the installation of the gas insert he was communicative, on-time and always left a tidy worksite. He subcontracted with a stone mason and had him scheduled on the calendar well in advance of when we were ready for him assuring a slot in his busy schedule. He recommended a local artisan to craft a mantel, assisted in my stone decisions and helped me order the bracket for the hanging TV as well as installing it. After the mason had completed the stonework, Kory came back to check on the work, touch up any paint on the fireplace and once again, answer some questions we now had on the fireplace! I am thoroughly enjoying my new fireplace and would highly recommend Kory and Alternative Heat for their extreme professionalism and expert workmanship

We are ecstatic about our new Gas Insert. Kory and his team were fantastic and we highly recommend them. They made the whole process simple for us. We have an old camp in Maine and it had a very old and unsafe wood stove. We wanted to replace it with Gas as we had gas already running in the house for the kitchen. Further, we had a specific look in mind and Kory (and his team) were able to show us different models of gas inserts that incorporated all the features were were wanting. His team came in, removed our old unsafe stove, put in the gas insert and hooked up the gas line for us. In fact, they were also able to help us keep our existing Chimney cap which had been custom made previously. The whole process was clean, neat and efficient. We couldn't be more pleased and have had numerous compliments on the insert as well as the installation. We will continue to tout our great experience with Alternative Heat Source Inc to anyone that will listen.
