We have been staying here for over forty years. I started coming when I was three and now I bring my own children. They are teenagers now but have been coming since they were weeks old. The rooms are cozy and quaint and what people are calling “dated”. Who cares. The view makes up for any of that. The fridge is not in the bathroom. It’s outside of the bathroom under the sink. There are no microwaves but access to the dining room microwave is allowed. There is new management, not new owners. They hired a management company so some things have changed. It is weird going into the office and not knowing anyone. We’ve known the previous staff forever. We have the same fabulous maid every year who always remembers our names. They will clean your room everyday if requested which we don’t usually need. I’ve never seen any uncleanliness, ever. Reservations are based on seniority and done by paper requests at the end of your stay. You’re then required to mail a check deposit. Reservations used to be very competitive as we request the same week and same room every year. It’s always been done that way, yes, and it’s really not anything to complain about. The breakfast is a more than sufficient continental with fresh made muffins, breads, fruit, cereal, yogurt, hard boil eggs, coffee, and juice. I’ve never experienced anything reflecting that they don’t like children. There are many families that we see every year. It’s in a wonderful location with beautiful gardens. Within walking to downtown and the infamous Marginal Way begins right by the pool. Highly recommend, 10/10.

My parents have stayed at this hotel many times in the upper level of the Sparhawk building which they said was very nice. For our stay we originally booked a room at the sea wall level of the Sparhawk building which I was excited about since the water was right below the outdoor porch. However we extended our stay a day and this room wasn't available all the nights so our stay would need to be split between two rooms. We checked out our room and found it to be worn with holes in the window screen which is not the experience my parents had on the upper floors. We decided we would ask to view the room in the Ireland House that was open all 3 nights. For the extra $20 a night we chose to stay in the Ireland House which was perfect as it was clean and modern and it had a seating area with a 2nd TV in the room. The hotel grounds were well maintained for the most part! Breakfast was extremely basic but the muffins were made on site daily.

Better than beachfront; we love the place where the ocean meets the Ogunquit River. Tides here are like no other. Rooms are aging but comfortable and provide beautiful sea/beach vistas. Walkable to food and beach. Second time here, back again.

Never again. New owners are beyond nasty. The old owners were wonderful. We have been coming here many years now but will not be returning. The place has gone down hill since owners left. Rooms aren't immaculate and service is awful.

This ocean front hotel has unobstructed views of the ocean in most rooms (it's important to ask when you make your reservation) and the tidal Ogunquit River as it powerfully created a new beach at low tide along with a wading river beach -- and then hours later it disappeared at high tide with beautiful Atlantic Ocean waves. The views are breathtaking and the 1 1/4 mile Marginal Way which starts right at the Sparhawk/ the walk must be seen (think Cliffs of Mohr, Ireland) While there is no direct access to the water from the hotel, don't let this discourage Beach Goers for you can take beach chairs and blankets and coolers a short distance on Marginal Way to rock outcrop beaches. OR take the family car to Ogunquit Beach or the Foot bridge beach. The heated pool was not open in mid June but it should be open the entire time the hotel is openThe complimentary continental breakfast in a nice room with outdoor porch - and if you like coffee, yogurt, cereal, sliced oranges and variety of toast and hard boiled eggs - you will be satisfied. The rooms- they are a nice combination of old school dark wood ocean front hotel and nice updated bathroom (shelves and mini fridge bar) tiled bathroom with a nice hot shower. The beds are hard but comfortable and the light brown blankets and clean sheets will keep you warm when you open the porch door at night but leave the screened patio door closed and listen to the sound of the ocean while you rest after 10,000 steps per day on Marginal Way and Perkins Cove ( beautiful but expensive) and down town Ogunquit. The best part of the rooms are the two bucket chairs facing the porch and the comfortable deck chairs overlooking the ocean. The bucket chairs are great to have a relaxing read or a drink with your sweetheart or a kiss or more. Beautiful grounds: you should Go!Reasonable rates. Nice innkeepers

We really looked forward to our stay, but we were disappointed and we will not be returning. We come twice a year for a week and we were always interested in this spot as it is close to where we usually stay, so we decided to try it out.Why we won't return:1. We were traveling with a very active almost 10 month old who loves water, so we specifically booked here due to their heated outdoor pool. Though, upon check in and only once I asked, I was told the pool heater was broken. No real apologizes or anything to try to repair the fact that it was broken , just that it was broken. This started off our trip on a bad foot as I not only called and verified a pool before booking, but also booked it specifically because of this. There are very few places that have a pool, so I feel like if it is advertised, guests should be alerted in it isn't working in advance to their stay or at least told upon check in... without having to be asked. 2. When we arrived to our room, I put my breastmilk in the refrigerator, just to find when returning that the refrigerator was OFF and so my breastmilk and all our child's yogurts and pouches that we brought were then unable to be used. The store bought products, weren't a huge issue, but the breastmilk surely was and just caused extra stress throughout the trip. For any breastfeeding mamas, you can only feel my pain and sadness. 3. The view from our room wasn't great. It said all the rooms had ocean views, but ours was minimal at best and didn't really enhance our stay. The porch was also nice, but many places have them in the area and this wasn't as good as I had hoped.4. The heating system was a bit odd and the room was either super hot or super cold, which was also hard with a 10 month old.One thing I will say, is it was clean which was good and the cleaning staff was very friendly. I'm sure it is great place for adults without children, but if you have kids (or 1 kiddo), I would highly suggest finding somewhere else.

Wonderful accommodations and great staff! Our room was great with a perfect ocean view and very comfortable. Plenty of space and good lighting. The only addition I would request is a small microwave. Otherwise, perfect!Food & drinks: Wonderful continental breakfast every morning in a very pretty dining room.

Went here for many yrs and really enjoyed it. This year we tried to book with new owner. We were told we were no longer welcome because we left the room a mess??? I was shocked. I really was. We had stayed here many yrs and never had an issue. Isn't this why they have maid service??? I would never leave the room a mess anyway. Always make it a point to tidy up before leaving. Don't believe I'm the first person this has happened to since new ownership. And they only clean the room once per week and are still blaming the reason on covid. Much more nicer places and better rates in the area .
