I spent several summers at this camp in the late 80s/early 90s. It was a wonderful experience.

Was fun prior to 2000s, but those new in charge have run it into the ground making their attendance numbers lower than ever. Counselors are always wonderful, but the staff in charge are extremely rude and mediocre who only coast by on the established history of the camp, all while lacking any of their own merit. I found them to be very passive aggressive in almost all interactions. On their website diversity is overused ad nauseam to cover up that the actual majority of the camp is extremely WASPy. Most likely in attempt to differentiate themselves from Camp Laurel. WASP comes with hard emphasis on the P. They have Sunday services and say/sing prayer before every meal. This is weirdly absent from their website's information. For how much they preach about diversity and how progressive their camp is and has been (teaching 21st century skills since the 20th century), how they treat their workers is firmly rooted in the past, practically using The Jungle as a handbook to develop a workplace.I found out while talking to a counselor how monetary tips given to them by you as thanks is to be handed over to the higher-ups to be put it in a 'scholarship.' Funny, since wages for counselors are far below minimum wage. Their wage is the equivalent of a dollar an hour. They barely have any tiny breaks in the day and their 'day off' is scheduled between weeks of straight work through day and night. Best of all, their 'day off' isn't even equal to a full day's time! At best they will get twelve hours.Luckily for parents, the counselors manage to push through the dreck they are dumped with and give the girls a great summer. All the while the camp's off season office is located in Darien, Connecticut: the richest city in the fourth richest state...Sad to see a beautiful, historic camp created with great goals just be destroyed from the inside out by greed and incompetency.

I can't speak highly enough about Camp Arcadia. Our daughter just completed her first year there and it was everything that we hoped it would be. She had an absolute blast and we are so grateful to the amazing camp staff and leaders.

Camp Arcadia is a gem! I went there for 8 summers, from ages 8-16. I dreamed of sending a daughter that I might have one day. Fast forward to the summer of 2022, when I sent my 9 year old. She had a phenomenal experience and can't wait to return. As a first time sleep away parent, whose daughter has anxiety, I was nervous to say the least. But, I trusted in my love for Arcadia and the staff who I know well. My daughter loved it and the communication from camp was over the top. She was comfortable, cared for, built up confidence, learned new skills, made new friends... it was everything I hoped for her. We're blessed to be Arcadians!

Camp Arcadia is a home away from home and the community is like an extended part of my family. I spent five summers here as a camper and counselor and my daughter now attends. The administration and staff really get to know each girl and encourage her to set individual goals for her time here. For some that may be stepping outside her comfort zone and trying a completely new activity she didn't think she could do, for others it might be becoming more self sufficient and independent. For all, it's about respecting the environment and eachother, and ultimately, "making the world a better place because you have been in it" (one of Arcadia's most valuable philosophies). Now, more than ever, kids, especially young women, need the time to unplug and find themselves away from social media, technology and pressures of school and sports to enjoy the simplicity of nature and extraordinary friendships. I can't think of a better place to accomplish exactly that than Camp Arcadia.

Great camp that is genuinely invests in providing a holistic approach to your family and child. Months later, your daughter will amaze you with all that she has learned, from songs to activities. We are proud to be an Arcadian family.
