The jetport is very dirty!!!! Arrival section especially dirty. Glass entrances filthy! Shipyard brewery was apparently shutdown at beginning of COVID and no one’s cleaned it since. This is disgusting. You have so much dust and bits of debris now spilling out onto lobby. Between PWM and Shipyard you must be able to get it together!!!!

Of all of the shops I have been in while traveling, my visit to the Portland (Maine) Jetport shop was possibly the least amazing. I probably wouldn't have minded paying $4 for a bottle of water if the person at the counter hadn't looked specifically like it was an imposition to take my money, or even acknowledge that I was shopping there. The minute my purchase was done, she slipped out from behind the counter and disappeared again. I'm embarrassed that this person represented what Mainers are like. I kind of hope that she was from away.

I was thinking of getting headphones despite the insane markup on most airport products. They have a whole wall full of them, but I didn't consider buying from this store. They don't list a single price on this wall full of dozens of products. Why? Nobody is going to grab the employee to unlock something from the rack just to check the price. Why make it a hassle for customers to learn the prices? Do they think if they hide the price it will reduce sticker shock? They're supposed to be a convenience store... Just make it convenient.

Every time I've bought something here, the staff has been incredibly patient, humorous, and quick (which is an important characteristic to have when one is working a c-store in an airport where people are always go-go-go). This is my usual stop to grab gum before boarding, but there have been times I've swung by for other things (drinks, gifties, random H&B stuff)... Once I needed twelve (of the same) Maine-type things to bring with me to New York. The lady working that day took the time to go over with me everything in the store she thought was appropriate, and everything that was labeled as a "Maine" thing but was really made elsewhere (and her suggestion as to why I should avoid it; gotta love salt of the earth people who defend our humble state like it's the only one that matters). I thought that service very over-the-top nice. Recently, I found a giant bag of Takis for just .49 cents. I was baffled at the low price, so I had to get them (regardless that I would probably only eat three or four). The gentlemen ringing me up warned me against buying them because of how excruciatingly hot they were... he also suggested buying a six pack when I landed to help wash them down. We had a moment then, him and I, laughing about Takis and beer like we had some inside joke and were old friends... something that wouldn't happen at most other airport's c-stores, but in Portland, ME? Commonplace. Can't go wrong with a clean airport store that sells the basic necessities and does so in a personable and timely manner, so CNBC News gets my vote!

CNBC News is the second convenience store/gift shop located in Portland International Jetport. I stopped in here to pick up a bottle of water, a book, and a magazine prior to boarding my plane to Washington Dulles. They had an interesting selection of books about Maine, I found one I thought that sounded interesting entitled: Nine Mile Bridge - so I bought it and started reading it on the flight back: CNBC News carries bottled water and soda, snacks, toiletries, books, magazines, newspapers, and a wide selection of gifts and tourist knick-knacks. They had several cute little stuffed animal Mooses. One would hope and expect Mooses in Maine to be made in Maine. But unfortunately they were made somewhere in Asia. Fail.
