Outstanding service. We were met by Jennifer who was great upon arriving from NY around 930pm. Unfortunately they didn't have our original car we requested due to customer not returning vehicle on time. So we took a larger vehicle and was told we could return this the next day for a smaller vehicle if we found it too big which we did. Again easy process. Due to Hurricane Lee we had to extend our rental for one more day and Lauren and Ali on the desk where polite, personable and considerate which enabled us to drive direct to JFK. Great service, friendly professional staff and would not only recommend but also use in the future on our next trip the US. Thank you.

I was not very happy with the way I was treated. I opted for a "managers special" type of vehicle and when I got the vehicle I realized why it was managers special. The vehicle had all kinds of cosmetic damage. The vehicle had over 50 thousand miles already, the Trims around the doors were coming off, and as you can see in the picture, the sunglasses storage above the rearview mirror was missing the cover, the vehicle didn't smell nor looked very clean and when I talked to them about it to make sure I would not be charged for the damage and have it documented, they barely listened to me and were like yeah ok no problem.. next.. so even tho the vehicle operated good mechanically, it had a few issues while driving shifting gears and a bit of drag or stalling while accelerating. Now I noticed why I got such good price deal. Because the vehicle I was given was the worst in the lot... So beware of managers' specials next time you decide to book it.

If I could give more stars, I would. Carol was so friendly and Jeff the Manager upgraded our compact vehicle to a Ford Explorer. They were honest about the tolls (saying we don’t need to purchase it bc they said most tolls are only a dollar if we find ourselves on a toll road.) But the best part is Carol gave us a free tank of gas so we can bring the vehicle back empty! Best and quickest rental experience EVER!

weird experience. didn't get the car we rented, but understand rentals can vary. what gets me is we called to ask if we can extend the rental by a couple hours, was told yes. asked how much it'll cost, was told complimentary (happy birthday to me!) and asked if they can put the conversation in our notes, was told yes. a couple weeks later, was sent an invoice for the "complimentary" hour so i guess not happy birthday to me haha

They DO NOT tell you about the "toll package" you need to buy extra. If you go through fast pass tolls without it, you'll be paying up to 42$ per toll gate (the toll is normally 1$). They leave out that convenient detail then bill you afterward denying any responsibility. Screw dollar.Edit: Their direct message link in the response doesn't even work! What a joke.

During the pickup, the woman at the counter barely even acknowledged me. Handed me the key, and that was it. Didn't tell me what kind of car I had, or even where to pick it up. Ultimately I had to get directed to the correct pickup location by a facilities worker.Then, after the drop off I received a phony $26 fuel charge, when I had just topped off the tank at the Gulf station right outside the airport.The positives: the car was fine. It was a car. But overall the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. There are too many other options out there for me to consider Dollar next time.

I thought the staff and service at this location were great. However, the second time I rented a car they asked me if I wanted to prepay for tolls. I said "no" because I didn't know how many tolls I was going to use on the trip. They said "okay." The car came equipped with an Eazy Pass so I went through the toll booth once. What should have been a $3 toll was charged to me 2 weeks later for $71. They use a system called "plate pass" and if you decline to use it at the start you will get these charges; something that I'm sure is buried somewhere in the fine print but was not explained clearly up front. I'm from Maine. When I'm in Maine I expect people not to gouge me. So I really don't accept an "it's in the fine print excuse to this charge." It's just a poor way to treat people . . . Bad business.I'm currently in the process of disputing this charge through my credit card company. Really disappointed by this ending to otherwise good service. I simply can't believe it means so much to them to gouge people on these tolls knowing that a charge like this will ensure that I never rent from this company again and will advise others to avoid them, too. FYI, Hertz and dollar are part of the same counter and seemingly same company. I did research and they both use plate pass. All the rental agencies are right next to each other so I'd advise you to rent with a different agency other than Hertz or Dollar. After all, what other hidden charges are buried within their fine print?

These guys made me wait an hour for my reserved car, they hacked 2 of my credit/debit cards which I now have to replace, and now they want me to turn on tracking cookies for a survey? I would never recommend Dollar to anyone and I'll discourage anyone thinking of renting a car from them.I tried both of my debit cards but got an unexplained error. Then I was told they didn't take debit/credit cards, only credit cards. I've never heard of this before, but I ended up paying with one of my credit cards. That night I got emails from my bank and both of those debit/credit cards where hacked. One of them was my daily use card and the other used only rarely for business.This was at the Tampa airport location. No more Dollar / Thrifty cars for me.

BEWARE OF TOLL ISSUES. CASH PAY TOLLS. We were told it would be $15 for the toll pass. Figured it would be worth it to not have to hassle with cash paying the tolls. It's $15 PER DAY! We probably spent about $6-7 in tolls going from Portland to Boston and I was charged $75. What an extremely unethical thing to offer.

I pre paid for my rental days before i went to pick it up. I was refused a rental that I had fully paid for because I didn't have a flight itenery with my debit card. Now I have to fight to get my money back. I will never use this company again.

Do not rent a car from Dollar Car especially at the Portland airport! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! I would rather walk than deal with their shady, unethical business practices. They are the absolute worse rental car company I have ever dealt with in my entire life! After we had a minor accident that damaged the bumper, they charged astronomical fees for loss of use. They sent the repair charges and the vehicle was in the shop for 6 hours, yet they charged me hundreds of dollars for days of repairs. My insurance company refused to pay stating it was a scam. When I raised the issues with them, they threatened to send me to collections, were unprofessional and unworkable. They refuse to compromise and make demands that are not in the contract. Go to any other rental car company! This company is terrible! The absolute worst! I cannot thoroughly express how horrible my experience has been. They operate a shady, fraudulent scheme where they are scamming customers for unsubstantiated loss of use charges. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM DOLLAR CAR RENTAL EVER!!!

Dollar sucks. They do not explain the toll charges, and sign you up, then screw you. Also had tire issues with very low PSI, made me drive 50 miles to exchange. Did not offer anything for making me take time out of my vacation., Horrible service

Their policy on debit cards was not clear at all. It is not clearly stated on their website or Expedia site. I am a US resident and I had to give proof of outbound FLIGHT details to use my debit card. My booked bus details was not accepted. Therefore I had to book a flight in which I did not take in the end. How does my outbound flight details prove my credit worthiness?? Stupid policy. They also put a 500$ hold on my credit card

Rental counter extremely busy with 1 employee to help. Been trying to deal with a return problem and receipt for 2 weeks. Nobody answers the phone at the car facility and the 800 number is a call center and with very little to no help from them! Would not recommend dollar at all!

Filthy cars, returned to the counter 3 times to change the car. All of them smelled horrible, were not cleaned at all! We even found what we thought was employee's cell phone in one of them. Having no more time to waste we accepted the 3rd car option, then mid trip realized the registration was expired. Seriously? Do not recommend this rental agency. We also paid ridiculous amount of money for a 2018 stinker with an expired registration. Do not rent from Dollar!
