The workout is great. The coaches are FANTASTIC. (Shout out to Meg, Jackson, Mel, Lisa)After the firing of one of their best and most loved coaches caused an outpouring of support for her, the management team chose to not only ignore it, but to try to suppress it - making it clear how out of touch they are with what makes OT so great, the people. This disregard for their clients and the community that’s been built has created an awkward and uncomfortable common space. At this point, I can’t recommend if you’re looking for community.

Disorganized and just looking for money. I filled out the information form online because they were offering a free first class to test the program out. I was called by a rep and left a voicemail, which I responded to and set up my first class. I had something come up with my family and had to reschedule, and then my boss scheduled a meeting this afternoon with no warning. I called to see if I could reschedule to tomorrow afternoon and I was told I “took classes elsewhere” and now have to pay $30 and do not get the first class free (and they refused to explain what other “classes” they’re even talking about). I’ve never taken a fitness class in MY LIFE. Let alone an Orange Theory. I exclusively go to the gym. They said they were only going to inform me of this AFTER I showed up (while I was expecting to get a free first class and then potentially set up a monthly plan if I liked it). I was very nervous about doing a group class from the beginning because I’ve never done one and was worried about being judged. I had to build the courage to even go to one and then to be told I “took classes elsewhere and no longer get a first free class” is ridiculous. I was really looking forward to the class, but I will stick with my gym.

Was encouraged to check out new gym. Very clean and tidy at time of opening. Good philosophy. Dislike the tracking system and there were prices to answer to become full term member. Went before Morgan earned Gold medal. Congratulations. Strong and Tall instructor. I decided to refuse price.

Great vibe; welcoming staff and friendly members! I have been to 24 OTF studios across the country, and this studio ranks No. 1 in friendliness and overall vibe. Coach Jackson rocks it - one of the best I've experienced! Thank you for the warm welcome and inspiring workout!

I can’t say enough positive things about the coaches and staff at Portland - friendly, supportive, very good at their jobs.Equipment reliability at this studio has been an issue for a while. It isn’t maintained or repaired properly which makes it extremely difficult to participate in benchmarks and challenges - and track my progress over time. The entire staff has been made aware (and they’re *more than aware*) of the equipment issues, but the repairs/maintenance are not performed by anyone locally on staff -or- by someone, as an example, who knows what it should feel like to row on a rower.

Staff, coaches, and studio manager are all awesome. My favorite workout that I can stick to consistently. That said, the owners need to prioritize equipment maintenance, all of the rowers are inconsistent and some don’t even count meters. When the point of orange theory is being able to track progress with data over time, issues like this can’t happen on a normal basis when membership is a premium price.Easily a 5 star review once things are fixed. I hope ownership sees the influx of negative reviews and makes a change.

I've taken nearly 1000 classes at the Portland studio since joining. The friends I work our with everyday and the Coaches at OTFPortland motivate me to keep attending. Mel, Meagan, Jackson and Lisa are all amazing coaches, as well as people that hold me accountable every day.The review is one star because as much as I love leaning into my competitive side, the rowing benchmarks and row challenges fall short when the equipment is not reliable.

I love Orange Theory, and my home studio in Portland in particular. The staff and community are welcoming, supportive, encouraging, and continue to create and environment where we can all challenge ourselves to More Life. All of that sounds like it would be a 5 star review, and it would be if the regional owners would support the local team in maintaining the equipment and facilities. In the 4+ years I've been a member, I cannot remember a time when something wasn't broken, and stayed broken for weeks at a time. Treadmills, rowers, weights, showers (water pressure, hot water), restrooms, bottle fillers. And, I know things break. That's not the issue. The issue is that things break and stay broken. Its a lot harder to justify the cost of a membership when I never know if I'll be able to have a shower, fill up my water, or have working equipment any given day I'm there. And the community makes it work staying, in spite of all that.

I love OrangeTheory (I’m a founding member at Portland with over 1700 classes under my belt). You’re going to see my one-star review and think, the words don’t match the review. Here’s the thing - the coaching and motivation within the studio that pushes me beyond my abilities mentally and physically is unmatched (shout out to Meagan and Mel). The *problem* is that the equipment in the Portland studio is FOREVER having issues (primarily leaning toward broken, less likely leaning toward “worn”) and the monthly membership is WAY too expensive for it to not be properly maintained and reliable. I shouldn’t be sitting on a rower with a broken handle for multiple days in a row and I also shouldn’t be able to say that for 6+ weeks now, Rower 7 hasn’t been tracking meters (and the Teams that had to compete for Capture the Flag on that rower got SCREWED).Does the studio have a regional person assigned to equipment repair? We sure do. Has this person ever actually rowed on a rower so they know what the tension should feel like? Absolutely NOT.Portland is not only the longest tenured studio in Maine but it’s also the largest in terms of membership numbers. Put the money into the studio that’s MAKING THE MONEY to keep the members. There’s your bottom line.

I’m a consistent regular at the 6a classes at OTF Portland. The community and the coaches at this studio are unmatched (shout out to Mel for her dance moves, Meagan for her motivation and playlists!, and Jackson for his amazing energy). I get a lot of joy from supporting others in reaching their goals, meeting/greeting new people to our studio, and engaging in our amazing community. All that said, my one star rating may surprise you. The studio has gone downhill since it originally opened, specifically in equipment maintenance. I understand that over time, equipment can fail. It also degrades. That said, the equipment is not maintained, repaired properly, or replaced when the same station has repeated issues (example - Rower 7 hasn’t been tracking meters for 6+ weeks). The Portland studio is one of three in Maine - not only the one that has been open the longest, but that has the largest membership. That means in Maine, this studio is the largest grossing in dollars for the franchise owner. The franchise should do what’s right and respond in kind to the amount of money they’re making and sufficiently keep the equipment maintained and running properly. At this point, if you want to try OrangeTheory - I recommend looking into The Form Lab in Portland (soon to be Falmouth). Community there is just as great AND the owners maintain the equipment properly.

The staff is friendly and professional, the space is clean and uplifting. I recommend trying it out! The only downfall are the phone calls asking you to join.

I have always hated cardio and I LOVE this! OTF has motivated and inspired me to keep coming back for its ever changing workout. I love the flexibility to meet myself where I’m at while pushing for a little more. The coaches are great and even when I don’t feel like being there, they make me grateful that I showed up.I wish there were a few more minutes of stretching at the end or at least a place to do so for longer than is allotted in their schedule while my muscles are still warmed up and can reap the benefits of stretching.

I love the Portland OTF! The front desk staff is always so friendly and willing to help out if needed. The instructors are all wonderful and put on great classes. Karleigh has helped me feel like an athlete again. She also has fire playlists which we all know can make or break a workout!
