Print is a wonderful local bookstore in the East End that packs a lot into a relatively small space. Be prepared to linger and browse and emerge with more than you planned on, and by the time you do it's highly likely you'll have chatted at length with everyone on staff and half the patrons too. Which is to say, it's a book lover's heaven. They always have a good selection of new fiction and nonfiction releases (as well as curated backlists of both), a prominent table of new paperbacks, a fantastic "Maine authors" and New England travel area, and a nice kid's section, with a bit of room to pull things out and play. Someone on staff clearly likes to spend time in the kitchen, because the cooking and food section is *amazing*. There are cool art books and pop culture tomes (really good stuff for gifting), as well as a selection of other great small locally made gifts (cards, candles, notebooks, etc.) sprinkled around throughout the store (I tend to come here first when I'm looking for presents). Possibly my favorite thing is the small presses shelf with wonderful books from US and global presses that publish things out of the ordinary: think beautifully designed books of odd trim size and lovely paper, along with works in translation--stuff that isn't easy to find. Wait, I lied! My favorite thing is the STAFF RECOMMENDATION SHELF, which, if you're trying to not spend money, will be your downfall. Haha, who cares? Especially when you're likely to get a detailed, enthusiastic plug from one of the staffers right there--I mean these are book lovers who know how to describe something, and what it means to them, and why you might like it too. Trust me, you won't regret it: this is genuine old-fashioned handselling of the best kind, and I've loved every single recommendation I've picked up here. By shopping at Print you are also (a) not supporting that giant online place where everything is cheaper but doesn't do anything for a local economy (or authors!) and (b) Print has a frequent flyer program you can join, so you'll rack up some credits you can use on subsequent visits. Join their newsletter to learn about other deals (such as the fabulous 20% off day they had for Thanksgiving this year), as well as readings by local authors. Bonus points too for a website that's easy to navigate, and you can also order there to pick up. Print: a bookstore, and already a local institution. Be there!

Cool selection of local books and gifts. They have unique books that you don't see anywhere else. They also have candles and cards and other things you'd expect for a bookstore. It is definitely worth stopping in

The staff are wicked friendly and they do by appointment shopping. Making it much more accessible for high risk/disabled/immunocompromised patrons. And more than that, they have wonderful book selections. Would recommend this bookstore to everyone. Also, they do curbside and shipping to your home - lots of options and ways to get good books to you.

This is easily my favorite bookstore in Portland! It's a large space stocked with an incredible selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and they regularly host author events and talks! I know Portland has several bookstores, but this is definitely one to check out! I'd even say it's the best.

Super rad! They literally gave me buckets so I could rifle through all the buttons they had in a moment of neurodivergency bliss. At first I feel felt really awkward about it but they accommodated me like I was a little kid. ???

Last weekend I was suffering major FOMO (thanks booktok) with every bookstore in Oklahoma City being sold out of Fourth Wing! I was on a mission to find it!I searched online and called bookstore after bookstore around the country trying to find a copy. I was just dying to add this beauty to my bookshelves! I ended up stumbling across Print: a bookstore and a cheerful lady named Amanda picked up! She sounded so happy to help me out and let me know that the store did indeed have a hardback with sprayed edges in stock! I let her know that I was putting in my order on the website immediately! Just shortly after, I received a notification of a shipment and it arrived today!I am so impressed and grateful for the amazing customer service Amanda provided for a girl 1,800 miles away!I look forward to shopping with y’all again!Thank you so much Amanda for being amazing!

Print is the bookstore I always wanted. Friendly and knowledgeable people who love the books they recommend, it's like asking a trusted friend what else you should read. There's more than books too, you might find that extra something for your car or to carry all your new books around.Bonus, if they don't have it they're more than happy to order it for you.

Excellent bookstore. They have a great in-store selection, and when something I want isn't in stock I can order online and have it delivered there for free in a few days. One added benefit of ordering from here rather than a larger online source: whenever I pick up my orders they are in immaculate shape, whereas when I get a delivery from a larger website the books have frequently been beaten up in transit. It's a little thing, but it's nice to have a new book look like a new book. Also, they are very dog friendly.

Great store! Kinda hard to find parking - all on the street - and no bathrooms.

I'm a tourist, not a local. But as a librarian/reader, I seek out libraries and local indie bookstores on my travels. Print is a gem: large selection of local authors, friendly staff, welcoming community hangout vibe, and so many indie press reads. There aren't enough stars to convey its wonder. Every town needs a Print. We'd be so much the better for it.
