We love this shop. The women that run it are friendly but serious about what they and the merchandising is amazing - it's fun just walking around and browsing but we rarely leave empty-handed. The selection is good but not huge, and the prices are fair when you consider that the goal is to support community services. I'm looking forward to dropping off a big haul tomorrow from weeding out our condo, and supporting this store from both ends.

By mistake, I admit there was confusion from a phone call to this store and so I left a bad review. Thankfully, I can fix that now. I went in to see if I made any error because my instincts told me to recall the many places I had called about accepting donations/ clothing ..as my phone never works right and I believe I called a previous place which was handing me lies cause me confusion on-line. Anyway, THIS PLACE is a wonderful place and a good cause; they were extremely kind. They took all my items I was wanting to donate. If you want good quality and fair prices for clothes and household items, this is the store to go to. I hope the staff forgives me for the previous review. I feel terrible for mixing up the numbers and shaming the wrong place.

This is like the only thrift store in Portland that has actual thrift store prices. Although I haven't had much luck with clothing here, I always find fun things for my apartment. I've gotten a framed Saturday Evening Post print for $3 and a New Yorker print for around the same price!

I was in the lobby of Portland Public Health and a woman came in who works at Good Cause who had followed a black woman down the street and into the Public Health building, accusing her of stealing and demanding to search her bag, even trying to reach for it. If a guy who worked at Public Health didn't stop her, she would've assaulted the person she was accusing. I'm not saying the woman did or didn't steal, but following a person from 16 Forest to 39 Forest demanding that she open her purse and then follow her into a clinic, yelling at her and causing a huge scene, complete with a few racial micro aggressions. The "suspect" was calmly saying "I can show you where in the store I set the items I didn't want down" but the employee of this place continued to cause a scene and screamed "don't EVER come back in here" then walked away across the street. This behavior is gross, and beyond unprofessional. 1) If you think someone has stolen, you can't follow them beyond your private property threshold to another building and demand the person give you their purse. 2) You are a thrift store. And one that calls yourself "a good cause". You can both hold shoplifters accountable while also being a human being and maybe seeing that if that person is stealing the 2 tees the woman was waving around, she might be in a tough place. The 2 tees she was holding were worth many $5 tops. (Which also, if you're holding what you think she took, why did this even happen. Her handbag wasn't even big enough to hold 2 additional tees.) The person who donated those clothes, I'm sure wanted them to go to a "good cause", not so that old racist woman can tell slurs at a black woman who was fully remaining calm and exuding her innocence. Thanks for your continued service of making Portland a terrible place to live.

Always a great experience at the Forest Ave always still a good cause. I spend a lot of money there. All kinds of stuff, you never really know. Stop by frequently, because it is a good cause. I read about it. Always great service. P.s. Don't tell anyone because then a lot of people will go there because they have good stuff and then I won't be able to go there and buy good stuff because someone else will have already bought all the good stuff. Very nice stuff!!!!! I Wish they had bigger sizes in both Men's and Women's clothing, though. Prices are a little bit on the high side. I do however realize that they are an independent store and they still, I believe, donate to a Woman's recovery program. Overall, I recommend this store!!!

You won't find any deals here. They're greedy. She finds the highest price for what she has on the internet and that's what she charges
