Fish and Bone is exactly the type of pet store I would expect to find in Portland: locally owned, locally loved and locally supplied pet supplies. It is clear the owners love animals and their customers. Just about anything you could need for your pet you can find here. Can't find something in the store? The owners will do everything they can to get it for you. Free snacks for pets even if you don't have them with you. Location is great because it's right in the heart of everything so you don't have to drive miles to get stuff you may need.

Great store! Great people! However.....don't splurge on the Meowijuana Catnip Bud Shake. It claims to have " no sticks, just some light green kitty weed"...it has just as many sticks as any other brand.

These folks really get dogs and dog owners. LOVE this place. Great vibe and uniquely curated items for your pup. Healthy things like dried duck hearts and organic treats. Wish we had one closer to home... I'd be there a lot!

We visited this store a few years ago while we were on vacation because our little girl wanted to bring her cat a souvenir. The store is super cute and the people working were so sweet to our kid. They showed her the toys and with their help she ended up picking (and paying with her own money) 2 of the little catnip donuts and our cat is OBSESSED with them. It’s literally the only toy she wants to play with. She’s already torn one of them to shreds and I’ve patched the other one but it’s close to needing to be tossed. We’ve tried to find something similar close to home but she’s spoiled and picky and won’t play with anything the way she plays with the donut toy we got while on vacation 2,500 miles from home.I considered calling our friend who is local in Maine and asking her to go get a few. I randomly kept the business card, and was delighted to discover I could buy them myself and have them shipped to Utah.It may seem silly but the kindness the staff showed to a little girl from Utah who missed her pet and wanted to buy a souvenir left enough of an impression that even from 2500 miles away, we will happily be customers for life.

We decided to check this out after seeing it on our first day. We wanted to get some gifts for a cats when we got back for vacation. They had a huge selection of both cat items and dog items. It's huge for the cat items because not a lot of pet stores cater to cats they mostly cater to dogs. This store is the exception to that rule. Everyone at the fish and bone was super helpful if we had any questions and was a super quick and easy checkout.

I bought my Aussiedoodle a good quality jean jacket. Easy to put on and looks great on him. He gets daily compliments every time I take him out for walks. Beautiful store and friendly customer service.

Can’t recommend this place enough. My partner and I brought our new puppy in for a simple toy, and they sent us away with an incredible complimentary care package, which is something they do for rescues. They also answered many questions for us and had great recommendations. Whether you’re a new or long time per owner, this should be your go-to Portland pet store. Thank you Fish and Bone!

It may be inflation Christmas this year, but as far as I'm concerned this means you just buy more for the animals in your life! I don't even have any of my own at the moment, but I discovered Fish & Bone and have treated the dogs and cats of my friends to the following: lobster-shaped toys (squeaky for dogs, catnip-stuffed for the felines); super stanky treats that taste like lobster, cod, and Icelandic fish (note: I did not actually taste these myself but the critters sure seemed to love them); dog and cat "wine" (stinky liquid in little wine-shaped bottles, I mean c'mon you can't resist); and other random little toys and things to bat around and chew on. Truly, this is a pet emporium of wonderfulness and treats, along with all the basics too (pet food, leashes and gear, etc.). Very friendly staff too, and each time I've been in there were cute dogs wandering around or snoozing behind the counter, so what's not to love? It'll be great when I have my own pet to treat here, but until then all the ones I know will continue to get lucky. This is a happy place to be!

Lost of variety for both dogs and cats. Terrible customer service. Stood at what I figured was the line to checkout and no one acknowledged me for at least five minutes. I put my stuff back and left. Better luck at Uncommon Paws a couple blocks down the street. They’re always friendly and willing to help.
