Our experience was perfection, in all regards, from ease of reservation to quick, welcoming, appropriate service. We loved the room, the open kitchen, the atmosphere, the menu. The wait staff was attentive, helpful, charming, unobtrusive but observant. We are foodies and were blown away by how extensive the menu was. We shared appetizers, fresh, briny perfect oysters, beef tartare, and had 3 different entrees. We will be back every time we come to Portland. I wanted many more items from the menu, so many appealing options! Thank you for a superlative experience. My host is a hospitality professional with top Boston property & he was impressed. We loved it (& Brendan, too!)

We ate here after nearly a decade since our last visit and it didn't disappoint. The food was wonderful, Joe, our server was knowledgeable and attentive and the atmosphere was soothing and rich with flavorful smells and an open kitchen which is always nice to see. We will be back again.

We've had some pretty amazing food since moving to Maine, but so far this takes the cake. Every course we had was delicious. Never knew something as simple as Caesar salad could be so ...special. Tip: ask the waitstaff what they like and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend.

The food and service were excellent. But it was just too dark to be enjoyable. Used cell phone to read menu but by the time entrees arrived I literally could not see what I was eating. Or my husband across the table. It got tiresome to the point where we opted against dessert. Waiter said the dimness was intentional design choice. I don't know that we will be back. The darkness was very off putting. So easily remedied,

The space is fantastic for starters. I loved the vegetable storeroom in the center where cooks would get their produce. Four shared dishes - yummy salad and their grilled squid for starters and the monkfish and half chicken for mains - was a lot for two so we were stuffed but squeezed in a gingerbread desert. Fabulous reasonably priced wine - Levantine de Musar to accompany our meal. Waiter was fun to chat with. Attentive and helpful.

Fore Street knocks it out of the proverbial park once again. I'm astonished by the quality and flavor each and every time. Five out of five across the board. Only minor critique is that the selection of gin could/should be better for us martini drinkers.

The food and drinks were amazing & the staff is kind & attentive! The only complaint might be that there seemed to be no vegetarian option on the menu which was a slight disappointment.

We were sat in the back room which is very pretty, dim with candle chandeliers, white lights and quiet. The front is much more lively and louder with a very entertaining open kitchen. We were happy to have a quiet table since it was a romantic dinner for two. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Our courses were perfectly spaced and everything from the oysters and steak tartare to the creme brûlée and espresso martinis were delicious. We will be going back!

We arrived 15 minutes early for our rez; joined the queue in the airlock. (We were the 9th & 10th folks) Hostess unlocks the door but orders us to stay there until she's ready. You open @ 5, you should be ready to roll at 5; one couple stepped in and we followed staying off to the side to allow the people before us to be taken care of; couple #1 is seated; next party is 4ppl and they're seated; next 2 folks get seated; (BYW these were all walk-ins); we step up and this oh-so-welcoming-NOT hostess reminds us that our Rez isn't until 5:15 and send us to the bar wait section which is furnished with ripped, cracked, leather chairs. Do I want a drink? No! It's my husband's birthday and I am beyond angry. Why did I make a Rez while 20 more people who arrived after we did & had no reservations did? And, why on earth wouldn't you want to seat 2 ppl who arrive early??? We get seated in the side room where a table for 12 was set up. The waiter was condescending and certainly did nothing to make me feel welcomed either. We asked to be reseated and quickly were. Our new server Alora was genuine & kind. She provided great input and service throughout the evening. The wines she recommended were delicious and the food was great. We live locally and eat out 3-4 times a week. Wherever you're from, you can always get good grilled meat. There are so many great restaurants in Portland. Go to one of them.

Incredible food, service and beautiful, warm comfortable facility. An amazing dining experience. Twice we've been there and twice have been knocked out by a top notch operation. Can't say enough good things. Simply awesome.

Continues to be one of, if not hands-down, the absolute best restaurants in Portland. INCREDIBLE food, menu, cocktails, wine list, service. The only downsides ever are the price and the level of noise. But they are well worth it.

Aside from having excellent ambience (Wood-burning oven? Check. Endless stream of meats roasting over open-flame? Check. Water views? Check.) the service here is among the best I've ever experienced - shout out to our waiter, Joe. Of course, the food is excellent too, but that shouldn't be a surprise.
