This place is deceptive. They advertised a festival. When we arrived, there was a lady with a small soap stand. We asked about the festivities. She said there's a fire pit over there. We had called prior to coming to confirm and they said the festivities will be held that Saturday. What a disappointment for the children. We did buy some of their syrups and I asked the owner about the Christmas trees. She said it was $75 for any tree. She said the reason why they priced it that way was to preserve the smaller trees. The assumption is another deception and all they have are smaller trees for $75.

We go to Balsam Ridge EVERY. YEAR. Whether it is hunting and cutting down our own tree or grabbing one that has already been cut for us. We all know the Christmas Tree season is fast and extremely busy - but each year we go, we are always greeted with positive, friendly, and CHEERFUL helpers. The Balsam Ridge family has always worked hard to provide the best service and experience. We will always come back for our tree, a wreath, some maple syrup and a perfect way to start our Christmas season! Thank you!

Im sure its fine but if you dont have inventory to be open for than a day than dont call yourself a choose and cut and just sell pre cuts.

Great little family run business. We went for Maine Maple Sunday. They have a fire pit, horses, open sugar house, and home made goodies as well as a food truck doing breakfast. Everyone was friendly. The only potential downside was there is limited parking and overall space but we’d definitely go again. We walked the tree farm too.

Excellent selection of Maple products made with the maple sugar harvested from their land. The bourbon Maple is especially delicious, worth a try.

We love to come and cut our own tree and have been for years. The farm has quite the selection with a beautiful view at the top of hill. The grounds are well kept and on a cool day it’s nice to warm up by the fire. Balsam Ridge is truly a memorable experience for all to enjoy.

Drove 3 hrs to find out there were no trees over 5ft tall. Very disappointed. The walk was all up hill. Wont go there again.

I wasn’t that impressed but I’ll give 3.5 stars because it’s difficult to find many tree farms in Maine (or around our area) to begin with. It’s harder to find ones open with good hours, actually posted online. Even harder during a pandemic. So kudos for that.
Pros:
* Lots of land to hunt for that perfect tree
* Pre-cut trees at the front is you’re in a hurry (about the average going rate $60-$70 as of this date 12/2020)
* Nice fire pit to warm up by
* They will wrap the tree if you want- Although it’s plastic netting so we avoid it.
Cons:
* Tree selection was poor, especially considering how much land. First year in forever that I’ve opted for the pre-cut tree because I couldn’t find a good one
* The trails were steep hills, slippery. Difficult for young kids or older adults.
* Not many clear signs as to which direction the paths were or where they ended
* Almost no parking so you’re forced to park on the side of the road abs walk on, not a big deal but the traffic goes way too fast abs doesn’t slow down- dangerous area.
* Plastic netting optional - both a pro and a con. No more Plastic!
Not taking points off for this, but mentioning it just as an fyi - This place was in the middle of nowhere, coming from Brunswick was a long drive and a bit confusing (gps/cell coverage was spotty)

In past years, only short and deformed trees were available to cut. This year they have shut the fields down because they finally realized that all their trees are short and deformed. The sugar shack is nice and the place has a family friendly feel, but their trees aren't worth the trip.

Our annual tradition for the start of the Christmas season starts at Balsam Ridge! They have gorgeous trees that have never disappointed along with table centerpieces, wreaths, etc!
