The best way to experience Higgins Beach. The Atlantic Ocean was ever present in our stay. Inn team could not have been better.

This is an amazing beautiful bed and breakfast right on the water in Higgins Beach, Maine. The family that owns it is very nice and they do everything to make your stay very enjoyable. My family and I will be coming back soon.

We've visited Maine a dozen times over the past 25 years, but always stay at The Breakers Inn. We love the sound & sights of the surf right outside the front door. Rodney and Debbie are superb old-world innkeepers, providing comfortable and casual accommodations and delicious fresh breakfasts every morning. It's so easy to feel at home here.

Lovely bed and breakfast to stay at-literally right in front of the beach. Breakfast in the morning is also great and it really doesn’t get more New Englandy than that

Classic Inn directly on the water. The sound of the surf lulls you to sleep. Very good breakfast and accommodating staff. This is a Higgins Beach Gem.

My girlfriend and I managed to get a last minute room at the Breakers Inn, and we had an all-around fabulous time. Things we loved: 1. The Innkeepers - Rodney and Debbie are lovely, attentive but not obtrusive, hosts that make you feel at home 2. The Inn - The Inn itself is super cute, with a lovely breakfast area facing the ocean, a bunch of Adirondack chairs facing the ocean, and a whole room of beach chairs/umbrellas/boogie boards to take to the beach. 3. The Location (see the subject) - I love being able to sleep and hear waves, and go for morning walks on the beach - there are many "Ocean-front" hotels that I've stayed at where it's a 3 mile walk from your room to the sand. At the Breakers, you're literally 50 feet from the ocean. 4. The Breakfast - Rodney and his staff run a tight ship (Glen, Sheila, etc), serving a delicious, home-cooked, diner style breakfast. Attention to detail/hospitality goes above and beyond - I don't eat pork, and noticed ham/bacon on the breakfast menu and asked if there was chicken sausage - there wasn't. I was totally fine without it, and didn't mention it again, but the next morning my waitress casually mentioned that they had chicken sausage that morning (which was also delicious). Clearly, they pay close attention to the needs of their guests. 5. The Town - Higgins Beach is super cute. It's got great waves if you're looking to swim/get the "ocean sound", but the beach itself wasn't crowded, even on a holiday weekend, and the neighborhood feels both safe and quaint - bunch of beach cottages. However, you're only a 15 minute drive from Cape Elizabeth/Portland, for all the restaurant options and shopping. Things to note: 1. We stayed in the basement room - it is a perfectly lovely room (with an attached "kids room", FYI) and you will 1000% have a great view of the ocean, but it is under the dining room, so you will hear footsteps starting at around 7 AM. If you are a late riser and light sleeper you may find it disruptive. 2. The Inn doesn't take reservations online - this is not a problem, but in a world where one assumes if there's no online availability, it's not available, that's definitely NOT the case here. I emailed Rodney on a whim and was stoked to see there was a last minute cancellation, so I'd say if you're interested, make sure you reach out!

We've stayed at the Breakers several times and plan to keep coming back. The location is perfect; we had a 30 second walk to the beach and an ocean view from our breakfast table and room. Rodney has an al la carte breakfast available at 8AM every morning and was accommodating to our requests. We asked for decaf coffee which he got for us for the rest of the week plus Keurig cups to make in the evening! Our individual room was somewhat small but they have tables and ocean view lounge chairs downstairs where you can read or play cards. On nice days we borrowed their beach chairs and umbrellas and spent most of the day at the beach. Cell reception in the area was tricky but the property had excellent guest wireless access throughout. Make sure to try their homemade preserves; you'll want to take a jar home!

Not what it used to be. Time for the cranky owner to retire and let someone new take over--Perhaps someone who really wants to be in the hospitality business. Small beds. Spare furnishings. Great view. Pricey.

We decided to come back to ME 21 years after our honeymoon here and thought Breakers Inn look great.
It is AMAZING here, relaxing, friendly, very well kept property, rooms excellent! Rodney and his wife Debbie and staff were all so accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and made to order food. The view, oh the view is gorgeous! Falling to sleep to the tune of the Atlantic was heavenly, better than any sleep app!
Both Sunset and Sunrise are gorgeous, Purple is sunset!
Go stay @ Breakers Inn, you WILL NOT regret it, and tell them we say hey!
