Scarborough Beach State Park, located on Prouts Neck in Scarborough, Maine, offers some of the best swimming, surfing, and kayaking in New England, with water temperatures reaching the high 60s during the summer months. The park features a beautiful, sandy beach that is a popular destination for both locals and visitors. Visitors can purchase season passes online or day passes at the park. The beach conditions can vary, with waves changing daily, but overall it is a great place to enjoy the water and the scenic surroundings. While the water can be quite cold, the park is a true treasure, offering long, peaceful walks and great fishing opportunities from May through September. However, dogs are not allowed, and there is no playground for children. Parking is available, but a fee may be required for non-residents.
This beach didn’t have many shells but was quiet with not many people. Enjoyed just sitting there watching the waves.

Came specifically to enjoy a beach morning. The beach was not crowded and the weather was lovely. Found some very nice shells.
Beach has easy access and there are restrooms close by.

Beautiful beach. Really nice Sandy beach. Great place to play in the water if the conditions are right for the day you are going and the size of waves are to your liking. Waves change daily. The beach didn’t get to decide what that will be.
