We stocked up on groceries and various supplies at this Walmart in Scarborough, Maine. A group of us rented an Airbnb house in Pine Point about 8 miles (15-20 minutes driving) away. Our house had a fire pit and we needed a cooler for a fishing trip. Originally, we planned to go Dick's and a grocery store for what we needed. However, we saw this Walmart on the way to Dick's and stopped here instead. It proved to be a one-stop shop for everything we needed. On a Thursday around 5:30-6:15pm, this Walmart was comfortably busy. We ended up buying nearly $300 worth of food, drink, and supplies for 8 adults. I believe part of our group returned the following day for more food, drink, and supplies like ingredients to cook the fish we caught, breakfast food (bacon, eggs, French toast) and things like paper towels. One of our important purchases here was a 48-quart red Igloo cooler ($24.88) which we used to transport water, beer, sandwiches, and the fish we caught. We picked up a 3-hour fire log ($3.86) to help start our outdoor fire plus a couple boxes of firewood ($8.54 each). Some pieces of the firewood reminded us of "bad" pieces of construction wood (e.g., 2x4s) in the way they looked and were cut. This was my first time buying firewood at a Walmart. It burned pretty clean. One of the guys in our group specifically wanted Cara Cara navel oranges and we were able to find them here for $4.74 a bag. Decent quality. The food that was average quality at best were things like the Walmart-brand glazed donuts and cookies (chocolate chip, M&M's). A dozen donuts was only $3.97 per box. A box of cookies was $5.87. Good prices, but only OK quality. That's one of the tradeoffs of shopping at Walmart. Also, the selection wasn't great. A couple examples of items I couldn't find were Claussen sandwich pickles and Duke's Mayo. For the latter, I ended up going with a bottle of Kraft mayonnaise ($3.98). We got fresh-sliced meat at the deli: $15 worth of ham and $18.49 worth of black pepper turkey. A couple bags of sliced sourdough bread was $3.98 per bag. A bag of everything bagels, $3.74. Slices of cheese for our sandwiches, $6.49. Philly cream cheese for our bagels, $5.84. We got lots of beer, soda, and bottled water. I noticed we were dinged with various "ME deposits" (Maine deposits?) for each pack of drinks. For example, we were dinged $1.20 for a 24-pack of Michelob Ultra ($21.27). I was dinged 5 cents for a single bottle of Diet Pepsi ($2.38) from one of the checkout lane fridges. A bag of "Mega" Oreo cookies was $5.68. We got a bag of double-stuffed too ($5.98). I think most of us preferred the Mega Oreos, the Oreo variety with the most cream filling. My favorite coffee creamer, Silk Almond Creamer Sweet and Creamy flavor, was only $4.90 here. That's roughly what I normally pay in Georgia and North Carolina, but on the low end of a non-sale price. Walmart generally does have the lowest prices around on most products. Unlike where I live in the South, where there are free plastic bags at Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc., we had to pay for bags here. I assume it's a State of Maine thing. The "wide bags" were $1.48 each. We needed at least a few to haul everything back to the house. They were decent-quality bags, similar to tote bags. They were useful for our fishing trip to transport snacks. We got chips (e.g., Kettle Chips at $3.94 and $4.98 per bag). Dramamine ($4.32) was also useful for our fishing trip: Produce quality was fine (e.g., the aforementioned oranges, iceberg lettuce head for $1.98, bananas for $0.58 per pound, and a two-pack of beef tomatoes for $2.98). Service was good. We had to ask for assistance to get one of the coolers since they were stacked high up, out of reach. We covered almost the entirety of this Walmart, from the deli to the sports & outdoors section.

We stopped at Walmart on our first night in Maine because we needed to pick up a few items we'd forgotten (phone charger, sunscreen) and wanted snacks and bottled drinks for our hotel room. We found a few food items we haven't seen in our Walmart in SC, so as much as folks hate on Walmart, they do have some local items. There's also a Dunkin Donuts in store if you need a coffee and donut fix, although it was closed by the time we arrived. Pro-tip for shopping in Maine is that paper bags at the register cost 5 cents. We didn't have any due to flying in and being tourists, so we had no issues with paying for a bag when needed. If we were local, we'd bring our own, and to be honest, I wish my home state was conservation minded and did this. Unfortunately, Walmart is almost entirely self-checkout, with racks for bags but no bags- and neither of us saw any bags to purchase or add onto our purchases. The attendant was busy, and the line was backing up. It felt a weird shoving items we'd just paid for into our pockets and carrying out bottles without a bag, but no one batted an eye, thankfully. No one enjoys Walmart, but this one had everything we needed and wasn't a terrible experience. Just remember your bags!

I wanted to update my review of this particular Walmart for a very specific reason (I've finally healed from the trauma the elephant inflatable caused; I realize that was more of an issue with Walmart.com than the Walmart in Scarborough), and that's their impressive meat alternative selection in the freezer aisle! As of writing this, they offer not only these well-known brands but an impressive selection from their individual portfolios! Like: + Morning Star Farms (chik patties*, sausage, crumbles, bacon, chick'n and waffle sandwiches, and sausages on a stick wrapped in blueberry pancakes*) + Gardein (mandarin orange crispy chick'n*, ground be'f, chick'n strips, f'sh filets*, turk'y cutlets*, and their ultimate chick'n filet*s, ultimate nuggets°, ultimate buffalo chick'n wings, ultimate sausage links°) + Beyond (plant-based seared steak tips, meatballs, nuggets, crumbles, sausage) + Impossible (bowls, chicken patties, meatballs) + JUST (folded egg*) AND they also offer a bunch of newer brands/brands I haven't found elsewhere in Greater Portland: + Tattooed Chef (plant based beef burrito* and chicken burrito bowls, plant based cheese enchiladas, açai bowls, and more [I am starting to see these at select Hannafords now]) + Daring (plant chicken wings°, cajun chicken wings, grilled chicken pieces, lemon and herb chicken pieces) + Omni (plant-based potstickers°, spring rolls°, luncheon meat, crab cakes°) + Simulate (plant-based tenders°, spicy nuggs, and dino-shaped nuggs) + Wholly Veggie (plant-based mozzarella style sticks, cheddar style jalapeño sticks°, ranch cauliflower wings, buffalo cauliflower wings, and more) + Happi Foodi (plant-based potato hash bowl, shawarma bowl, bulgogi bowl, enchilada bowls) * = items I particularly love! ° = items I haven't tried yet but am excited to! While I try to support local as much as I possibly can, sometimes my budget is just tight. A lot of our grocery budgets are tight. And if you're also trying to live an entirely (or at least mostly) plant-based lifestyle, things get even more expensive. It's all a balance, right? I don't want to buy from Walmart, I do want to buy from these brands; these brands are cheaper at Walmart. See what I'm saying? (I do stand by my previous review on some points, though. This particular Walmart: - has the most chaotic parking lot; no one knows who's doing what, there are some places you can drive in but not drive out, some places that mysteriously have dead-ends, and being a pedestrian? YIKES - so park as far as you can and walk in is my advice! - is **always** dirty. - the Customer Service line is as confusing as the parking lot - skip if possible.)

I wanted to get some items for recipe( for party) and some things for house. I needed to have the ingredients by that night. I was way to busy with everything so I had no time to go and get ingredients so I ordered online. They only brought 5 things when I checked online and ordered about 15. Items for recipe. There were less than half the ingredients there. P.S did not make recipe had to have frozen food. Terrible!

I just shopped here a couple of days ago. For some unknown reason, there are no longer any benches in the front. Some of we older folks need to sit frequently. I did the best I could leaning on a register station as I waited for my companion. For this reason alone, I doubt I'll return.

Best costumer service ever. Gloria, Jen-Ben and Krista were a HUGE help. I had a return but was missing the receipt, and they spent 30ish minutes helping me find it. They didn't need to do that, but they did. They were so patient and helpful. I feel like you don't find customer service like that anymore. I'm just very appreciative. Shoutout to them!

Went in to return something and the service desk was closed, with no posted hours anywhere. I don't understand why the store is open but customer service isn't? I asked and employee what the hours were and they didn't know. I called the store to ask and the phone rang for about 5 minutes before I gave up.

Awful walmart location. The employees are short tempered and they dont even offer paper bags for purchase. The aisles are a mess and shelves disorganized constantly. Also, they NEVER answer the phone. For curbside they don't check the app notifications either. Every time I go I have to walk inside. Why have a phone number if you don't answer...? Trash.
