They had dealt with me fairly on another vehicle so I thought I would try them again. Boy, was I wrong to do so. They offered $15k less than what KBB, Edmunds and NADA appraise the vehicle for trade in value. At the same time, they are selling vehicles like mine on their website for $65K plus.Do a little research before or you're going to get an incredibly bad and insulting deal. Also, you may want to check elsewhere before you buy from them too. If they're willing to rip you off that much on a trade, what are they making off you if you buy?**Update 02/15** The provided explanation for discrepancy and solution makes sense and I will follow their advice and update this review later.**Update 02/19** Followed the advice of the CarMax manager. Got a very similar low ball offer with the different explanation that they detract for certain modifications where Edmunds, KBB and NADA give credit for them. I'd put them at negative stars if I could for promising to be in line with the Edmunds value and then coming in $14,000 below it.

I was fully approved on line and I even called in before I headed to the dealership. Upon my arrival I was told I had to wait for over 2 hours before I could sit down with someone about the car I was approved for and just drove over 2 hours to pick up. After waiting almost 3 hours I was told they accidentally destroyed the car I purchased during a routine inspection I was then told that they had another older model also less equipped with lower miles but it will be a few thousand more dollars. I went through with the purchase after receiving the vehicle the salesperson felt the need to urgently warn me that I have 3 days to come back and undo the deal I just made also that if anything should be wrong with the car I could drive it back two almost 3 hours to get it fixed the day after I got home the breaks started squeaking the fuel door was broken I assume by the same person that accidentally hooked up the jumper cables backwards on the original car supposedly destroying it I didn't want to drive the 3 hours to wait for several hours or maybe even days for them to fix my car so I paid a real mechanic to fix the jeep also the check engine light came on as well it is my impression that they don't run their trades through their shop and sell cars they know will not pass inspection it is my opinion that this company is not honest and that companies that use these kind of tactics are what make consumers show up on the defensive and feel like every salesperson is just a professional scammer ruining all dealerships reputations in the eyes of their customers.

I had a great experience at the Car Max store in South Portland. Everyone one was super helpful and friendly. I sold a car which went well. Then I ordered one car and a day later another car came on the site so I dropped the first one and ordered the second one. That went well also and I am now waiting for it to be delivered. Car Max store handled the whole process and it went smoothly.

I would say stay away from carmax the employees are liars and you’ll be told one thing one day and then the next day like you’ll come in and they will tell you that was never said. They try treating you like a punk and it seems like you have to give them some resistance to receive what they originally said you would get. Feels like you’re pulling teeth with them. They will lie straight to your face then after you verify that what they said, wasn’t true because you called the other establishment they try to stand by what they said. They waste your time, by having you you sit around waiting for something even though there’s like 20 employees and what you’re trying to do could probably be accomplished in a very very short amount of time but they just don’t want to do anything.

Initially great.... Discovered a few safety issues with the vehicle and going back this week for resolution. These are State of Maine Vehicle Safety Inspection issues that should have been addressed prior to sale as it violates Maine law to affix a Safety Inspection Sticker to a vehicle that has these particular safety and dangerous issues.Satisfactorily resolved, but they should pay a little more attention to detail when they do a Maine State safety inspection.
