I’m not one to take to Google reviews when I’ve had a bad experience, but I was so uncomfortable with an interaction I had with a staff member that I genuinely think it’s worth warning any socially anxious shoppers about. After several somewhat crude but tolerable jokes during scanning and reward points, the older woman (I didn’t read her name tag, but she had dark hair) ringing me up read me my total of 52.75. I did the math wrong with my cash and gave her 102 dollars thinking I would get back 50 and some change. I made a mistake; I don’t often pay in cash. The woman proceeded to count out the bills and then repeat my total three times in a very condescending manner. When it became clear that I didn’t understand I had done the math wrong, and that repeating the total was not going to help me understand that, we stood in uncomfortable silence while she just stared at me, still holding the cash. At no point did she make a move to hand me the two dollars back and simply say “that’s alright, the two dollars doesn’t add up all the way, I’ll give you change from the hundred.” At no point did she just process the interaction like normal and hand me whatever change was left without taking a blatant opportunity to get a “gotcha” over the “younger generation” who can’t count change. Just stared. She just stared at me and then stated “if you do the math...” as I eventually reached over for the two singles. It was unequivocally the most humiliating and confusing customer service interaction I’ve had in my life. If you have any kind of anxiety around shopping in person (or don’t feel like having someone embarrass you for no reason) avoid the dark-haired older woman and look for someone more approachable; there were several very pleasant, helpful ladies around.

I love sephora with all my heart. The only down side to going there is, leaving a lot poorer than when you walked in ?

I was so scared to shop in Sephora. Mikaela (sp?) helped me so much. I can’t thank her enough!

Kyle at the South Portland location was the sweetest person I’ve ever encountered. Not only did he listen to my skin concerns when my own dermatologist wouldn’t, but he went above and beyond educating me on my eczema. He recommended a product that I can’t wait to try and for the first time in over seven months I actually have hope my eczema will get better. I’ve always been an online shopper but for now on, I’ll be coming to Sephora to see Kyle.

Worst experience at a Sephora yet. I quit going for a long time because of rude sales people. Then I had a good experience in Vegas about 3 months ago, so I figured this would be good too. No. The gal I asked help for called me “stupid” when I asked for a certain foundation, and then when I asked if she could suggest a foundation for me she replied exactly this, “I DONT WEAR MAKEUP, so I don’t know what to tell you” then she rolled her eyes at me. I was so embarrassed and walked away to ask another associate for help and she too refused to help me by saying, “I don’t wear this stuff so I can’t help you”. WHY DO YOU WORK AT A MAKEUP STORE???? I ended up leaving with the wrong foundation and can’t even bare to go back to return it. Never again. I’m done with Sephora after this. ?

Incredibly rude staff. Asked a question about pricing because a products packaging was damaged and if any discounts were available for it and was met with complete attitude by one of the men there. Maybe about 30 seconds after I had talked to the previous employee another blonde bigger man come up to me and took the product out of my hand and asked if I had opened the packaging and when I tried to say it was already opened he interrupted me to say that now they have to throw it away because of me and stormed away. Decided to not purchase any of the things I had come there to purchase and felt so uncomfortable being in that store.

Super friendly staff with top-notch products from all over the beauty, care world. Stuff for men, women, and anything you want to be. Facial cleaning products, make up, pimple meds, lotions and creams, and accessories and tools to make it all happen. Super happy that they have one in the Maine Mall. Huge selection and fair prices.
