Every person I've met in 2022 at Southern Maine community college has been absolutely amazing from the students to the professors and I'm sure you will find amazing people at the student bookstore on campus at Southern main community college

Re-edited to 5 stars after the manager of the store reached out to me and was able to solve my problem. Like everyone during these times, they were lacking staff, however once I was able to get a hold of someone they fixed the issues I was having which allowed me to start getting my school work done, which is all I cared about.

I attended back in 2016 and was part of the culinary arts program. I have a physical hand disability and while being in a class learning to make pizza dough, while I was struggling to hold the dough right, the head of the culinary department Walked in and decided to mock me while the teacher stood to the side doing nothing. Why SMCC would hire anyone who mocks disabled students is beyond me and the only responds I got when complaining is “Well, that’s just him being him”. Overall the school is great for Southern Maine, but a teacher or head of a department should be supportive and motivate the students, not mock their differences.

My education at SMCC showed its usefulness this weekend. I don't regret getting a bachelors degree first but the associates that I got in Electrical Engineering Technology has given me an amazing skill set that I have used both at work and at home. My dad has a Rinnai heater at his camp that would not power up. He had an HVAC tech come look at it only for the tech to say “something†smells burnt and because of the heaters age parts aren't available. His solution was to try to
