Owner-operated. Paper menu. Five starters and six mains, three desserts. Hard to choose, all sounded great. We had Pork belly and Peekytoe crab cake, then Gnocchi with foraged mushrooms and pan-fried Haddock. All great, really enjoyed the gnocchi! An outstanding, knock-your-socks-off chocolate “pudding”. Excellent wine list and good, interesting wines by-the-glass. This is the real deal- an adventurous chef who loves food and local ingredients. Great, personable service!

We descended on Rogue with 8 of our friends, for a party of 10. From the time we walked in, our young servers were very attentive! The food was delicious! I had the panko crusted haddock, which was cooked and prepared to perfection! All around the table, everyone loved their dinners! At the end of the dinner, the owner/chef came out and greeted us individually, which allowed us to express our appreciation for our dining experience!

I had such a great meal from the folks at Rogue. Started off with a delicious mushroom bisque and got the pork chop with this phenomenal plum sauce as a main. The people are friendly and the food's excellent. Do yourself a favor and make your way over!

Rustic exterior doesn't give a hint of what's inside this excellent restaurant. Fabulous food, lovely wine selection and helpful, friendly waitstaff. Reservations limited, so book ahead!

This is truly a gem! You might drive by without noticing it, but if you are looking for a really special meal, make a reservation here. It is a small, family-run business, and allows for a relaxed setting. The menu changes depending on what local goodies the Chef selects. Between the four of us, we had the mussels ( fresh, delicious and prepared differently than anywhere else), crab and corn cakes (sweet, crispy and yummy) and big fresh salads with light dressing. The homemade gnocchi, haddock and salmon were all superb. Really, not a speck was left on any plate. It’s great to support a local, family business especially when the experience is so sublime. The martinis were also perfect and they have a nice wine list and unique tasty desserts. We had the lavender crème brûlée and dark chocolate pudding—highly recommend both!

We’ve been coming to this part of Maine for 15 years and we were always curious about this restaurant. This year, we had booked reservations at a few of our past favorites but were disappointed. When a friend recommended Rogue, we immediately emailed to get a reservation; the owner responded quickly, we went, and now we are fanatics about the place. We can’t wait until next year! Thank you Rogue!

The very best meal we had for the entire two weeks on MDI. The food is thoughtful and deeply nuanced. I am still dreaming about the pan seared gnocchi with lightly smoked mushrooms and crispy pork as well as the lavender crème brulee. The atmosphere is truly special and is the perfect backdrop for a magical dining experience. Thank you!

Mother and son do this together. It is small, 25 people or so, and intimate.Everything is fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. !Since two people do everything, enjoy your cocktail and order an appetizer early or just have bread with your wine while you wait for your cooked to perfection main course. The bread is terrific too. This is a perfect Maine experience !

This was the best meal we had in Bar Harbor. The food was amazing, I love to cook and I love to eat, the chef is very talented. The waiter was amazing, very attentive, and so nice. It was enjoyable diner where you did not feel pressured to eat and run. We enjoyed each course and had time for conversation in between. If you can get a reservation, I highly recommend it. You can’t go without a reservation though.

This place was quirky in all the right ways. No online reservations, but an email request was answered promptly, and we were so fortunate to dine here. Rustic but charming little dining room. The single server (who turned out to be the son of the chef) worked tirelessly to provide a good experience for everyone. We were looking for a light red to go with the duck confit and gnocchi with bacon and greens (both outstanding), but couldn’t find one on the menu in our price range. He brought out a bottle of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and a Vacqueyras that were not on the wine list; we chose the Pinot and were very pleased. Food was all fantastic from pork belly and fennel bisque to the chocolate cake. So glad places like this still exist!

Arrived at 8:30 when they close at 9pm. Was turned away by the bartender saying "they were winding down for the night"We were very surprised as there were many empty tables and only a few people dining. We had just driven 7 hours to the area and were hungry. We picked this spot as their web page said they closed at 9pm. Had to start over at that late hour to find something else.Very unprofessional. Will not go back again for that reason. Shame

Had a couple of excellent meals here over the winter break. Love this place and the team. Prompt service and beautiful decor but with a welcoming an informal atmosphere. As a new resident of the island, I truly loved laughing with the locals here while scarfing down scrumptious scallops and the like. Thank you Rogue Cafe. Swinging by for a cocktail and a bite tonight!
