The location and facility are beautiful but there was a young woman working at the front desk who was very rude and brusque to us one morning after asking her a simple question. The masseur at the spa also seemed creepy, I really did not enjoy his massage.

My husband and I had the best time here. Such a beautiful place! We enjoyed many meals at The Fern and loved having drinks at Harry’s. We found the wait staff to be so kind and accommodating. The only issue we had during our stay was the shower. Our shower would only get slightly warm at best, which was not great considering the weather was in the 40s while we were there. Not a great experience for 5 days. We asked for assistance from the front desk staff on 4 separate occasions but nothing changed. I really hope they can get this sorted out in the off season as it’s truly a problem.Looking past this issue, this was the perfect place for us!

There is only one word to describe The Claremont - perfection! It is a world away. The location is beautiful and the ambience is quintessential Maine - simple elegance. Yes, it is pricey but perfection always comes with a price. Our room was cozy and our meals were excellent. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the Claremont. The hotel is well appointed, well maintained, and beautifully sited. The views are spectacular of the sound. It’s conveniently located to many of southeast harbor’s activities and sights. It’s also an easy drive to Acadia and other spots on Mount Desert Island. What makes this hotel special is the staff - willing to go above and beyond to help you have a great experience. Victoria and Alyssa at the front desk made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Any request was accommodated easily and quickly. The details make the difference in an experience and at the Claremont, both the property details and the customer experience details were very well done.It felt a lot like summer camp for adults with fun activities, including s’mores and a bonfire at night, live pianist one evening, a watercolor class, swimming, and relaxing in the lovely public spaces.I look forward to returning again and to checking out some other properties under the same management.

This was the most expensive hotel I’ve ever stayed at, so I was hoping to get what I paid for. Overall, the place was great. However, I cannot say I was blown away when a few basic needs weren’t met. For example, the shower would not get hot, just lukewarm. There would be a 10 second run of hot water every once in a while, but overall just a pretty cold shower each time. The hotel was extremely noisy, from conversations in the lobby, to kids running around, to couples having arguments, to the dripping noise outside our window. It was very hard to get a good nights sleep. A lot of the extras this hotel had to offer were nice, but not as important to me as having the basics of a warm shower or a good nights sleep.

Stayed 2 nights.Stayed in the main hotel. Small room overlooking the parking lot. Had to grab a chair in the hallway so we could sit in the room without sitting on the bed. Could have set the coffee station up in front lobby area and maybe a freshly baked cookie , you guys have a kitchen, right? I would suggest coffee maker in the rooms but there is nowhere to put them the rooms are that small. The building is well appointed. Outside is welcoming . Could hear music and conversations coming from adjacent rooms. Expectations were not met. Spent $1300. Ouch

My sister and I went to Maine for fall foliage. We stayed at the Claremont for four nights. The hotel is beautifully sited and well appointed. The lobby rooms and the back porch are very comfortable for relaxing and reading. The views from the porch are spectacular. They have thought of all the small details, like blankets on the porch, s’mores for the nightly bonfire, wonderful tea and coffee in the mornings, water bottles and Prosecco at the front desk, very comfortable and well set up rooms, and quiet hours at night (thank you :-) The front desk staff are friendly and happy to accommodate any requests. Alyssa and Victoria went above an beyond to make our stay welcoming and lovely. They knew everyone’s and made us feel both special and comfortable. I had an issue with my room and when a different one became available, they moved me. The new room was perfect. It felt a lot like summer camp for adults (in a good way). Live music one night, a watercolor class another day, a mixology course, etc. Our stay was wonderful and I look forward to coming back again.

We stayed at The Claremont during our elopement/7 year anniversary. It was such a great relaxing stay. We eloped on a boat that was able to pick us up on their dock. We ate at Little Fern and the meal was amazing. The service was fantastic and the manager even comped our desert. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We're definitely planning when we can go again.

This tastefully appointed hotel feels both luxurious but comfortable. So many pretty touches. Open fires and floral displays. Wonderful outlook over the water and helpful staff. Dinner was delicious too. Can’t recommend this hotel more highly.

We recently spent one night at the Claremont. It was a last minute reservation... to be fair. We were given a room above the kitchen for $$$. All the kitchen noise telegraphed through the bed while trying to sleep until well past 10:00 pm and beginning at 5 am. Very frustrating. The bathroom was spacious compared to the bedroom, which was super small. The bath smelled of a musty shower curtain. My husband mentioned this at check out and was told the information would be given to the manager. No follow up so far.The grounds are lovely. View is amazing. Truly dissapointed in the room. The Claremont must know this is not a room to rent at their standard and price point.Rooms: #210 is not the room to have.

Ok, we are still waiting to see how this turns out, but we are quite skeptical. Here for a wedding weekend during Hurricane Lee, we thought that a property like the Claremont would bend over backwards to make our stay as hospitable as possible. Turns out, their perspective is “we are not responsible for the hurricane.” I could not agree more they are not responsible for the hurricane, but we have no power in our room, which includes having no hot water for showers. We are looking for some support, but they don’t offer anything other than a $3.99 flashlight to help us deal with then power outage. Thank goodness the room locks are old key and deadbolt set ups as opposed to electronic locks! They appear to be a well-managed property, but in tough times their perspective seems to be “tough $hit for you” the weather is not our fault and your experience in our place doesn’t matter to us. That’s is simply not hospitality. We will see what their response is when we leave because we were not delivered the product (or service) they advertise or charge for.

our trip to Maine, from Texarkana AR, was interrupted due to 2 straight days of American Air flight cancellations. upon this happening we decided to cancel our entire trip and try to do again another time. all of our stops (Portland and The Press, Bar Harbor and The Bar Harbor Inn, and Camden and The Lord Camden Inn) The hotels were very accommodative about our having to cancel our trip. all deposits were refunded, with the exception of 1. The Claremont Hotel in SW Harbor. Jessie was nice and tried, but his manager charged us the full deposit we had on had with them.not very professional. be careful with this hotel.we will visit Maine again. We certainly will not visit SW Harbor and this hotelMichael White

The rooms are comfortable and the hotelier did a good job renovating. Grounds are well kept and the setting is very nice. I also found the service pretty good for a remote hotel. However, the food was actually quite bad and super pricey. We had a $28 salad for lunch with dressing from Hidden Valley. Breakfast wasn’t good and the coffee was terrible. Also they really need to change the turf by the pool…

Perfect in every way - loved all the decorating details, gorgeous grounds, flowers and plantings. I even spoke with the lead grounds keeper about the plantings she is so proud of. The Little Fern room is so beautiful and the food was extrordinary. Harry's bar is so cozy and the bartender is amazing. Every staff member made a point to say hello as you passed them. The waiters and bartenders at Batson Fish camp were awesome. If you need a peaceful break it is here at The Claremont. You could not ask for more. Gina & Rick Madison, NJ
