This is a beautiful little Gallery set amidst a garden that has been beautifully curated over the years. One of the artist owners was there when we visited and was so gracious, telling us about her and her husband artistic history and current work. Definitely worth stopping by!

We had this on our list from two years ago and made sure we put it on the 'do not miss, this time' list for another trip down to Corea, Maine. East to find, actually, off Route 1. Very enchanting 'I'm going to do this because I like it!" design because it is their home. So, be respectful to visit within their hours of operation. We like gardening and landscaping so really appreciated all the little details of items added over the years and years of living in the area adding up to the whole of its gardens. The gallery is small but full of their work. I really loved the carved pillars and lintel arch between the main rooms of first floor. Don't forget to get up to the second floor, too, even if it's a steep narrow climb. Enjoyed talking with one of the artists/owners of the husband/wife duo for quite a while about the art and the area and the subjects. I'll bet they alternate who greets the next visitor who rings the bell on the gallery, when both are home. Very different styles from each other. Lots of details by one and lots of color by the other. Their bio sheets speak of these trends, too. We purchased two prints that hit our fancy because of their links to our own history of beachcombing and pets. We'll be back for the actual garden tour when it's not so mosquito-laden or make sure we arm ourselves with mosquito zapping racquets (or I go with folks who are not mosquito magnets!); it's called "Spring Woods" for a very good reason and the mosquitoes are happy there, too.

Little did we know it was long after business hours when we followed the signs to Ann & Paul Breeden‘s built-by-hand Springwoods art gallery (and garden) off Rt 1 on the way from Schoodic to Hancock Point. We were sad to have missed some of the galleries back in Winter Harbor, and were delighted to see the county sign pointing just a stones-throw to Springwoods. A cozy little lane led us back to the lovely homestead and shop which we were delighted to see was OPEN. The placard said to ring the bell, so we did. Paul walked kindly from his home to let us peek in his gallery—and only then did we find that they had been closed for over an hour. From the recycled canvas sail over the front door to the hand carved interior doorframe, Paul humbly shared he and his wife’s stunning and whimsical craftsmanship—fine art of every genre! With a natural air of hospitably, he answered our many questions and the lovely story of their shared artistic journey unwound. What a serendipitous way to uncover this true national treasure. So, by all means, go see Paul & Ann—but please note, they’re only open til 5!

What Ann & Paul Breeden have done is extraordinary, beautiful, & unusual. This area has been transformed into a unique nature garden, plus their art gallery. What a pleasure as we drove up toward Bar Harbor . I am angry at having to check couples when I am traveling with my daughter.

This little gallery tucked away in the woods in Sullivan, Maine is sure to delight you as it did me and my family! Paul and Ann are two incredibly gifted artists, and kind-hearted people to boot. Paul's paintings are absolutely spell-binding, and Ann's are beautiful works of art. They have items to fit every budget, and quite the selection to choose from. Make sure to plan for a bit of time strolling through their quintessential gardens as well. What a treat!

This place is stunningly beautiful! The gardens are shady, cool, peaceful and creative. The artwork by Paul and Ann Breeden capture the love they have for nature, animals and the world around them in coastal Maine. Worth the trip off the beaten path! And not far off the path at all!
