Hoping against hope that we might one day reach the check out register and pay for the spoils of capitalism nesting in our rickety carts."Hiss" went the balloon stand as another colorful latex orb swelled into existence.We waited.I overheard one disgruntled customer mutter "birthdays" derisively.I looked down at my sole intended purchase. Today is my Birthday too but I dare not mention it amongst the restless crowd. People shifting and shuffling as they leaned into their carts, trying to get comfortable.Frazzled and frizzled the cashier made her way to the register. To all of our relief the soothing beeps commenced and I soon found myself paying for my purchase and stepping out into the sweet light of day.My eyes misted up with unshed tears as I kissed the warm pavement of freedom.Never again shall I be held captive by the promise of cheap goods for only a dollar.”

“This store I fairly new to our area however, I find it very helpful where it is in it's location! Great place to put that store, I go there very often and always find what I'm seeking at the most reasonable affordable prices! The staff is very friendly and super helpful! I am super grateful to have such a handy store of so many different products all in one store, at discount prices! Thank you!”

“Store was pretty well stocked given the state of some of the dollar stores I've seen around the state. Seem to have just about everything the advertised prices are decent had a lot of sales. Generally don't have any issues finding anything I might be looking for. Staff is usually very helpful and friendly, I've never had any issues with anything related to employees or the state of the store. Overall impression was that they do care about how they're store looks and that they have the items on hand that they advertise in their flyer or for upcoming sales. Generally sales on beverages, candy, and other various items usually hygiene related are my go-to's when I'm shopping here. Unless something drastic happens I do not see myself stopping my shopping habits at the store.”

“Went here to fix the bathroom sink & did some shopping after we finished the Job. I have to say this is the cleanest dollar general store we’ve been in to date in central Maine. The staff were very polite and helpful. Everyone was doing something in the store which was really nice to see. 10/10 recommend going to this location.”

“I never did go into the older Family Dollar, as it was just being emptied of it's merchandise into the dumpster, a few days after I moved in my apartment in Westbrook, ME. The newly renovated and designed store is very organized and very clean. The employees are always very friendly and personable!! I am just happy to have this store, open now, really close to where I live. ????‍♀️?”

“Not the dollar store we grew up with in the 90s where there are not many items priced at a dollar anymore, however, it's still a great place to find cheaper versions of mainstream items.”

“They are not the big one in South Portland so they don't carry everything your looking for. but if you are going over for a quick bite to eat for dinner you can put something together nicely. and I will say usually things fly off the self here but the shelves were mostly stocked which was good to see.”

“The family needed drinking water for our one night stay in the hotel. However, there was no close by grocery store or drug store. We did not want to be extorted by the gas station convenient stores. Dollar Tree came to the rescue. The store was located only one long block away in a strip center. $1.25 for name brand half liter bottle worked for us. The store was organized, and I had no problem locating the water. The cashier was friendly and quick.”

they have so many amazing store brands. super well built. the clover valley brand is amazing food! they have better prices than Walmart at least 50% of the time, especially if you use Dollar General app coupons or iBotta rebates!!!!! Love the huge selection of frozen and Shelf-stable foods. they had my favorite drinks when no other grocery store sold them. Snapple strawberry kiwi! they have the best prices on so many of my favorite foods, better than Amazon, the grocery stores, or Walmart!!! they have awesome store-brand pillows that I bought and which are knit-pillow top and thick and fluffy and absolutely amazing. only $10 each! they had my favorite Dial body wash when no else did. they have my favourite handsoaps and my favorite makeup tools. dollar general is absolutely amazing. the product line up is stellar and the prices are honestly unbeatable. I LOVE THE FROZEN SAUSAGE ROLL. u gotta buy it!!! best thing I've ever eaten. just slice off a thick slice and it makes an amazing breakfast Sandwich!!!”

“They are often filled with so many people. All the staff here are amazing and super nice and friendly. Always willing to help, whether it holding an item aside to pickup later that day (or tomorrow morning), or helping input a misbehaving coupon.Even though they're often overrun with customers (not all of them nice!), these ladies are so good under pressure with busy lines and (some) rude customers.Absolute props to those who work here.
