I don’t usually post reviews but this one I can’t hold my tongue.
My son and I stopped at Pet Quarters in Windham today to look at the fish. When you first walk in the store it’s very clean and looks good. We go to the fish section and I was mortified! Most if not all of the tanks were absolutely filthy! Almost every tank was sold out, and no not because they sold them you can tell these tanks haven’t been used. There was one with a broken light in it. The prices of the fish were through the roof compared to Pet Quarters in Scarborough. Even the betta fish were sitting in filthy water. So I happily spent $30 to rescue fish, they are now home in a clean tank living their best lives. They are full of spunk and happiness and when I can I will be rescuing more! The young girl that got the fish for us stated “if the manager cleaned the tanks I could see where they are, and my son (kids have no filter) says “you could clean the tanks” (he was very upset to see the state these fish were in as he is special needs ) her reply was “ you have to be trained to clean the tanks and I am not” This statement baffled me because you have to be certified to clean tanks but not to get them out of a tank. Handling fish are just as important as keeping the tanks clean. Please find staff who is willing to do their jobs and care for living species in your store or simply don’t have them.
Nick (manager) I hope you can get your store under wraps before it goes under!
I did take a video of the tanks but I can’t post it. Pictures don’t do justice but enough for me to post a review and like I said I don’t usually post reviews.

Better prices than pet supplies, don't go there.
Pet quarters needs to put ALL the dog treats in the same isle, they are spread all over the place. I was looking for dog cookies and it wasn't streamlined. Easy fix. I was told they didn't have limited ingredient diet LID treats....but i found them in an isle.

Better prices, selection, and knowledge than their only competitor in the area. Also, regarding Kelley Hunt. I’ve also worked in retail my whole life and many stores have a “prices subject to change at any time” policy to protect profit

Had a price tag of 23.99 on the bag of paper liner for my guinea pig cage it rang up 34.99 I showed the gentleman behind the counter and his response was oh someone tagged that wrong and if we give it to you for that price then we loose money on it. I get that they loose money but I have worked retail for 1/2 my life and no matter where I worked if something was tagged with a price on it, that's the price the customer paid. I didn't want to argue so I just said fine but I wanted to let other people know to pay close attention if you go in here to prices on packages.

My elderly mother went into the store today to purchase dog diapers. She normally buys them off Amazon, but was running low and thought she would patronize a local store instead. When she went in the price shocked her and she asked if it was accurate because it's about four times what she pays on Amazon. The store clerk stated "if you like supporting Asian communities then that's your prerogative". Apparently he thinks that things on Amazon are made in China but things sold in the store are not? Or maybe he has a beef with the Asian community? Whatever it was he was trying to say, it was rude and disrespectful and uncalled for. I've been in the store, a handful of times over the years, but that's the last they'll see of me or my family. Obviously, it will not put them out of business, but if they have store clerks that are this rude to everybody, they'll be driving more customers out. And honestly, chewy sent me a condolence card when my dog died. Pet quarters didn't. So screw it, no point in Shopping local if they don't care about you.

I worked here for about 6 months and I loved it. Such a friendly environment and the job itself is great. I couldn't have imagined a better experience. Nick (Manager)and Stephanie are very well educated on the dog and cat foods and pet supplies. I learned a lot from my job here. I love this place and it will forever remain my favorite job. I strongly suggest shopping here or working here:)

The manager there that was working last night (1/3) was very knowledgeable and has a lot of great knowledge on pet foods and allergies.I do agree with a few other commenters, the building is shabby but I don't know that the business can change that on a lease much. I also think the meds section was lighter than I'd have liked.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, however extremely limited selection and some unprofessional practices.

I didn't catch his name but he was super helpful and full of good information on cat food options. I didn't realize a brand that I thought was amazing wasn't really as good for my cats as I thought it would be. But now I know what and what not to get in the future. 5 star service:)
