This is a great place to get your auto needs taken care of. My door latch broke and door was stuck shut. Tinker got me in fast, and did a great job fixing it, even found a used part, saved me hundreds, appreciate that kind of local service. My family's cars, now have a trusted local business to help take car of their needs.

Honest detailed inspection. I learned things about my vehicle that I did not know. I am a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, so I am not easily fooled. My visit to a dealer where the goal was to sell a new car with a bundle of “safety critical” repairs that needed to be done right now amounting to several thousand dollars was disappointing. Not so at Tinkers. They actually found defects that were missed by the dealer. I actually read the Maine State Inspection requirements. Tinkers inspection was right on.
In addition, the office staff was very helpful. If you are looking for mechanical or electrical auto repair, I highly recommend Tinker.

Made an appointment for an inspection sticker. Had an appointment available first thing in the morning. They were prompt and courteous. Did not have any issues.

Absolutely wonderful shop full of competent mechanics. I always have a great experience anytime I have any sort of work done by this shop.
They’re knowledgeable, reasonable, and prompt. I don’t know what more you could ask from any shop.
If you’re looking for a mechanic I would highly encourage you to call them up and give them a try.

After breaking down on the road in Portland on our trip to Maine, from Rhode Island, we placed numerous calls to car repair shops for a diagnosis and repair. Responses were not promising, including one place who couldn't look at it until August and one in September. We finally called Tinker on Monday morning at 7:30. Not only did he agree to look at our vehicle, but diagnosed and replaced the starter in our Ford F150 by 5:00 on Monday. Customer service and kindness at its finest. Thank you Tinker Automotive! We highly recommend your business.

Stellar work! Unmatched attention to detail. Your car will come out of the shop working better than before it started having a problem.
Their communication through the repair process - a stressful time for any owner - is exemplary.
Too often we go with the closest mechanic. Tinker is well worth the trip.

I’m so glad to have found these guys! I can’t recommend them enough! If your looking for a shop that will not only take care of any vehicle needs but also communicate with you through the whole process and they will call you up to tell you the price of your repair before doing it, unlike some others I’ve dealt with.
