The best friendly credit union! A very welcoming atmosphere and lots of friendly faces.

Home to the town of Winthrop, this Credit Union has been reasonable with their interest rates. ATM(s) (Winthrop, Wayne, Augusta) are constantly out of commission which makes it hard to always be close to home and withdraw funds. They’ve onboarded a lot of new and friendly faces, which was much needed, and makes the personal experience warming and welcoming.

If you want a credit union with a local phone number that has the auto attendant set so the call is disconnected as soon as you try to transfer anywhere, enjoy not having emails and portal messages responded to, like being at the only credit union that does not allow deposits at any of their ATM's, and has an entire staff of employees with rude attitudes and who are not able to make transactions be a simple and painless process - this is likely the place for you.If however you like to use ATM's, like having folks be pleasant to you and actually treat you like a customer, like having your bank actually respond to you with respect and in a timely manner and not make even the simple things seem to be the end of the world for them that they have to go out of their way to perform then anyplace is better than Winthrop Area Federal Credit Union.

Got an auto loan through this credit union. Trying to make a payment, and it's so difficult. Can't do one time payment. Can't set up auto pay without going into a branch and signing a document. It's like they don't want you to pay your loan on time or something. What a pain in the neck.

Probably some of the worst customer service I have ever received from multiple different employees, on multiple different occasions. I was even laughed at, for a few of my questions over the phone. Have been a member for almost ten years, and looks like I won’t be getting to that bench mark. Go to a different credit union

I recently had a situation in which I needed to withdraw funds from a cport credit union acct due to a sudden situation involving my son. ( you can withdraw from any credit union account with any other participating credit union) long story short: I NEEDED this money. I recently started a new job and found out I was a victim of identity theft. As a result I need to pay off the balance I have with a differeent bank (that I have never used) before I can have a checking acct. As a result I dont yet have a checking acct, or more importantly, a debit card. I rushed out of work early and got to the location literally as the clock turned to 5:01. (Thet close at 5). I LITERALLY watched the clock turn to 5:01 in the parking lot. They REFUSED to help me in anyway because it was after 5:00, citing security concerns. Instead of simply helping me, the woman directed me to a Walmart to complete my banking needs. (This Walmart was an extra hour of driving for me round trip). Why the woman could not be bothered to help me is a prime example of just how selfish, uncaring, and ultimately how out-of-touch this bank is with its community. Having worked in a past job at a bank (and having stayed open MANY times for customers after closing time) I know this is not true. The individuals simply wanted to leave. The terminals were not even powered down yet. This type of "customer service" is absolutely not acceptable, not to mention lazy and selfish. This bank should be utilized as a case study for how NOT to treat your customers. I have experienced many examples of poor customer service, but this is among the worst. The lack of caring (for a bank apparently centered around the community) is appaling. My recommendation? seek the services you require at another bank; I know that I will. Maybe if enough people take their business elsewhere they will realize that being a "community bank" requires more effort then simply putting it on your business card to make it a reality.

i went to the drive up window yesterday to make a withdrawal. the woman at the window was very rude and begrudging when dealing with customers. the snarky woman told me i had to come inside because it was shared branching. i explained to her that i couldn't come inside because i am handicap and unable to walk. she very rudely said "well then i cant help you" and turned away. i don't think i have ever been treated so rudely. i felt humiliated.

I've worked with many banks before, and I've never been treated so bad at another bank before. Their rates are only competitive to the town there in, and maybe the same can be said about their customer service. I went here to apply for an auto loan, and it took a week for them to get back to me. The lady (Joanne) is the epitome of pretentious, and it's not just a bank thing. I applied at many banks just so I'd have a good selection to choose from. They are notoriously slow on their processing, and somehow expected me to call in everyday to check it up the status? You're not really seen as a customer here, just an extra process for the loan lady. Well they lost me as a customer and hopefully you too. Save yourself some money and go with Key, or even BOA. What a waste of time.
