Best hardware store for miles around

Bought boots for my son that ended up to be too small. Brought them back, brand new and never worn but didn’t have the box anymore. Was told can’t return without box but they never once tell you that or have it written anywhere.
Had to buy ANOTHER pair of boots in the meantime so my son had some. Was told by cashiers only one person to talk to about that and she was never there when I went. Was given an email address to send info to and never heard back after an email and a follow up email.
Boots aren’t cheap and I’m stuck with a brand new pair that will go to waste.

Went all the way to Lowes in Brunswick to get a plumbing part for our RV kitchen sink, but they did not have it in the store. Stopped here on our way back. This True Value carried what we needed! Who needs the big box stores. Shop local first!

Went in today to get a couple of AC units and had the BEST experience. I shop here frequently and have always had a good experience, but today I went in with my almost two year old so my hands were already full… ?
I realized quickly that I would need help because the units wouldn’t fit in my cart so I had to go to the registers where the checkout person called someone to meet me by the AC’s and he was so helpful! He wheeled them to the counter where I thought he would leave them, but no he took them all the way to my car and loaded them in! I could have cried I was so thankful!
Such wonderful service!! ☺️

Store hours should be adjusted to 2024 I cannot believe they aren't open on Sundays. They close at 5 during the week.... they need to retire a few people and move this location forward before its too late... home depot is looking to build rite down the st.. good luck guys...

Ames is a real gem of a small town hardware store. They always have whatever you need and always go out of their way to help you. We always go here rather then going to the big box stores.

On Wednesdays, 12/27/23 I was in the area and stopped in to purchase some Ammo. The women - who would appear as the owner or at least a manager, was such a pleasure to work with. She was kind, warm and pleasant. I’m not often greeted like that, from folks that don’t look like me, in Maine. It was a nice.

Every time I go in there, people are eager to help! A gentleman with a ball cap, and wire frame glasses helped me so much! He even demonstrated something for me! I told I appreciate his knowledge, he said it was his second day there, which I think he was fibbing! Anyway I told him I would let his boss know! I hope he sees this! Just moved here from Augusta,and I love this store!
