They lack transparency and it's a little fishy. And some of the practices they have in place are not in the best interest of the dog or the adopter - they want you to agree to the adoption (and pay I assume) before you even get to meet the dog. Better rescues would want you to have a meet and greet first, and then the prospective adopter and rescue organization would agree that it's a good fit and move forward with the adoption (or not, if it's not a good fit).
