“Gillam D'Lite, formerly the Kettle River Inn & Suites, is in an excellent location in town, kitty corner from the train station and close to all amenities. The location is quiet. We were shown to a two-room suite, with a separate bedroom and ensuite bathroom, and a living room with a kitchenette. It was disconcerting to discover that there are no restaurants in Gillam as the restaurant at the hotel closed three years ago, but we were able to get good food at the new Co-op that we were able to prepare in the room. We didn't have very many utensils and pots, pans, etc. in the room so it was a bit of a juggle to make a meal. This is something that I think could easily be improved. The room was clean if a bit dark and the beds were unbelievably comfortable! The manager was very easy to work with which was really appreciated; he went out of his way to accommodate our wonky schedule. The lack of foyer was a bit disconcerting, but we assumed it must be an issue of security. At any rate, we enjoyed our stay and were glad to have a few days to unwind before heading out to York Factory.”
