A bookstore to be useful needs to be open, not closed 90 percent of time.May as well “ browse” Amazon??

They are only open for one day a week and only for a few hours, which hasn't been too challenging but certainly is difficult to pop in whenever you want.My main complaint is that their shelves never appear to change inventory and they have stacks upon stacks of unsorted books inside of boxes. If the books on the shelves aren't selling, can we not rotate the inventory? I also have very low success in finding anything I'm looking for. There are likely very normal and good reasons for why things are the way they are, but due to the issues listed above, I cannot recommend this location and I genuinely want to.Norman's and Family Books are very close and far superior for my needs.

This is such peaceful, lovely place to shop for books. There truly is something there for everyone. Highly recommended!(FYI- it's best to call ahead to check their hours, which have changed recently, possibly due to covid rules.)

I have never felt welcome whenever I go in this shop. To boot, the few times I have gone to see about selling some high quality books, the owner low balled me. So, if curmudgeonly owners and pricey books are your thing then this is the place for you! Two stars for a great selection of books.

I loved this place because of they had a great selection of Canadian authors. I spent almost 2 hours looking through their books. Some of the books older books are 20-40 dollars, but they are in great condition and they are usually beautiful books. Additionally, they had cheaper paperback versions of those same books if you don't want to spend more.

Winnipeg staple full of lots of charm and a great selection of quality books. They don't just take in any old book people want to get rid of and it shows in their selection. Constant flow of books means every time you visit you find something new. Owners are very helpful and want to sell you books that are right for your needs and not just the most expensive copy they have.

If they made me up a cot in the corner I'd stay indefinitely. This is a wonderful bookstore with a wide selection of reasonably priced books. Books, that cornerstone of the thinking life.

I purchased a book from here internationally via biblio - I was very happy with the purchase. Well packaged book, and the communication directly from the store was excellent.

Great selection, good layout/well organized, and friendly staff. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the books are pricey for being used. Check amazon or indigo and compare prices, the prices are not far off...it’s not like they like are first edition signed copies, $20 for a used copy...really? Globosapiens on Portage charges a 1/4 of the retail price. Meaning if it’s from the 80’s you pay less than $5 a book.

My husband went in yesterday at just before 5:45 (to be fair, they close at 6:00, but 15 mins is still 15 mins) to take a look at books and was given a glare by the lady behind the desk and told to "hurry up I'm closing in 10 minutes" by her. He was then shouted at from across the store that he better buy something because she was closing NOW (5 mins later) and had to feed her dog.Surprised that he received such treatment as I see good reviews for this place. Other than the awful customer service, he said it was nicely organized and seemed like it would be nice if he had not been kicked out so rudely (at not even 6pm). He won't be visiting this place again.

There's always a great variety of books but they're over priced for being used and some of them donated. The carpet pattern and smell made me super dizzy and nauseous.
