I have been Living in Wolseley area for almost 3 years already with my two little ones. Finding a decent local stores & meat store in the area was hard until I found this local store. When we go in the store everyone is very Welcoming & when the ladies are on the floor definitely comes greet me an my children at the door with great smiles and asking if I need assistances. A lot of selections when I walk-in with good prices & deals. One thing I really like about this store is, when you cannot find the item you want. You can request for specific items & the store owners make sure they have it on selves or on there inventory. Gives me specific date & time when they have the order in. I have no issues with the store or store owners, very high maintenances on cleaning & very respected owners. As a indigenous woman I have no problem with the store owners especially the woman’s that work there. Well respected, polite & also the store owners make sure it’s cultural appropriation in the store & making sure everyone is safe and treated equally in the store.?

I just bought a litre of 3% milk, and they charged me $2.45,which is illegal, because the set rate is$2.08.When confronted them they said don't buy it. Even though I showed them the Government rate.

They intentionally have pieces of paper covering the register screen, so that you can’t see what price the items are rung in at, only the total. On several occasions, I have been overcharged upwards of $.50 on an item. On one occasion, the older woman who works there overcharged me $.50. She then placed my second item on top of the first overcharged item, conveniently on top of the price tag. I awkwardly bent down to peer through the pieces of paper to see what was wrong in the total, versus what the price tag had said, Before I could see the incorrect price, she verbally says “oh!”, and corrected the price to what the price tag listed the item for. So how did she know she overcharged me, and what the price was, without me mentioning it, if it wasn’t intentional? Also, they overcharge on CITY SERVICES. This is the only store in the entirety of Winnipeg I have ever patronized in my 20+ years of living here, that willingly decides to increase the price of bus fare by charging more for bus tickets than anywhere else. Shoppers drugmart, 711 & Circle K don’t even do that. No Ma & Pop shop in this city does, save for this place. Imagine being a tiny little shop in the middle of the neighbourhood, and feeling it’s ethical to independently increase the cost of public transportation. Disgustingly unscrupulous, greedy, and not very Canadian! Lots of families are struggling to make ends meet, and these folks voluntarily tax bus fare. Just gross. Most businesses don’t do this because they know that if people are coming into buy bus tickets, they will probably also grab some other items while they’re there. It increases store traffic, thusly potential sales. They also over “tax” items. Today I watched a woman scan my items, and I saw the total at the bottom of the screen. Then she goes “oops”, clears the transaction, and enters the items in MANUALLY (remember, she scanned my items before) and the total ended up $.62 MORE than when she scanned them. Like what in the actual eff is going on here ??? I’ve also used Service Canada‘s, government of Canada tax calculator, which allows you to choose your province, and then enter in the item cost before taxes, then calculates the taxes at your provincial rate for your total. 100% of the time I have done this, the taxes have been $.30 or greater than what the government of Canada tax calculator calculates for Manitoba GST/HST on retail purchases. Another thing they do is, they round up the prices on debit purchases. They’re not supposed to do that. They’re only supposed to round the total when it’s a cash transaction. On multiple occasions I’ve had them round up a total from e.g.$4.98, to $5 on the register, despite me paying debit. That’s theft. Mind you, they only stole two pennies from me, but no one has the right to steal ONE single solitary cent of my money. Especially a business that I support multiple times a week, for years now. Let’s take those two pennies, multiply them per item that a person buys, then multiply that by customer transactions per day, then multiply that per week, until you reach a full year. No doubt equates to hundreds of dollars in THEFT. You do not have the right to help yourself to any of my money, not even a single penny. Some might say it’s petty that I’m complaining about a couple of pennies, I think it’s more petty, and far more immoral for a business that’s supported by it’s local community, to take such liberties with their customers money, in the form of literal penny pinching. Clearly they are banking on (pun intended) people not caring or noticing a penny or two, here and there, but that doesn’t make it any less shady. Every item I’ve ever bought from the freezer section, has been thoroughly freezer burnt. They sell expired milk, by turning the milk so the date isn’t facing you. Discounted items are often past due. I once saw a lunchable on sale for a dollar, and the meat inside was blue. Let’s risk giving a kid Food poisoning for $1! Convenience doesn’t mean you get to exploit people & take advantage of them. Be better humans.

They have everything!! All the snacks and drinks, even home hardware things, a Christmas decor section, candles, office stuff, you name it. Prices are higher but it’s to be expected at a convenience store. Thanks for being in the neighbourhood!
