This was the first time visiting. We got there early and they graciously accommodated us. Our waitress, Jenny, was quite pleasant. The guacamole was very good, especially with the warm chips. I had the steak and blue cheese quesadilla and it was very good. My companion had the tamale and it tasted very authentic. They did not rush us to leave. It was a pleasant evening and I will recommend Agave to others.

Coming back to the core and shell our organization built and seeing the addition of the restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Annapolis vibe. Tasty food and wonderful cocktails. Go and enjoy!

After needing to put a CC down to make sure we made the reservation we arrived a few minutes early and our table would need another 5 to be ready, 25 min later the hostess had obviously forgot about us. The bartender was super attentive and the appetizers were on point. The shrimp burrito I ordered had four small shrimp in it and about a cup and a half of black beans and all lettuce. Staff was polite but her response to my issue with burrito was like she had heard other issues with kitchen. Great place for a cocktail though.

Tammy and Jenni are awesome & Toby is the best! I love coming here for the food, the ambiance and the staff. Still my favorite restaurant since finding this gem in Lewes, DE, back in 2006

This is in response to the request for more info. I'm five months late, sure, but I still think about how ridiculous our experience was.I could go on about the hostesses and how unwelcoming they were, or the price of chips and salsa (anything more than $5 is blasphemy), or the fact that any other Mexican establishment in the area blows the food out of the water. But I won't.Because my main complaint is that it's absolutely bonkers that they do not have fajitas "for one". Not to mention they want to charge you $90 for the fajitas for two, probably because they use filet mignon, which they think makes it fancy and edible. A scam. Why would I want filet in my fajitas? Maybe if they stopped trying to "elevate" traditional mexican cuisine, and learned how to use the right ingredients and cook it correctly instead, we might go back. Use the skirt steak and get over yourself. Our server was lovely and my mom and husband enjoyed their margaritas. They earned the 2 stars.

Mediocre food with no flavor. Guacamole bland and nothing special. It’s basically regular American food with Mexican names and colorful cocktail glassware. Service and atmosphere is great though. Food disappointing.

Great Mexican/tequilareia!This Lewes, DE-based restaurant is the company's first foray into MD. Rumor has it that many of the Lewes patrons are from the Annapolis area and often spoke about how they wished their favorite restaurant would come to Annapolis. In 2022, they gambled and opened in West Annapolis.Decor is classy and upscale but still very Mexican inspired. Atmosphere is lively and the noise level can get a little raucous on weekend nights. Temperature in the restaurant is quite cool so bear that in mind.Toby is an awesome bartender and all of the drinks there are made with fresh ingredients...no mixers! Amazing tequila selection and they're happy to teach you about them. Be sure to try each of their signature cocktails, my favorite is the Elderflower while my wife's is the frozen piña colada. A surprise was to see they have our favorite Rosé, Blue De Mer, on the menu which we thought was only available at our favorite wine bar/wine cellars.Food is made fresh every day and rustic. Their salsa is very addicting and their guacamole is very good. The chips are usually served warm but tend to break easily when scooping the hearty salsa or guac. The pupusas are fluffy, the tamales are flavorful, the black beans and rice are tasty. But my wife and I typically go to our regulars: mole enchiladas for me and empanadas for her. The only thing I wasn't impressed by were the mole wings. The wings were dry and overcooked and, while I love the mole on the enchiladas, I wasn't a fan of the mole on the wings. We've wanted to try the desserts because they look amazing, but their portions are so big that we never have any room left!We tried this place on a lark and we're so happy we did! We come here frequently and always leave satisfied.Parking: Street parking only so spots can be hard to find on the weekends.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp available outside for wheelchairs/walkers and the table placement inside provides wider aisles for easy maneuverability. People with mobility issues should have trouble navigating the small steps outside.

This was my first visit. The food was excellent. Our waitress was very nice and trying hard. She seemed new. But she was great when fixing my drink. It was a little tart and she made it perfect with some agave. But there was something with the front desk team that seemed off putting. Friendly but not welcoming. They would not let me bring in birthday cupcakes. And the food runner had absolutely no idea who he was delivering the food to. Maybe needs more training. The restaurant was really loud. So if you are looking for a relaxing meal to talk, this is not the place. We did get a taco salad to go and the delivery/presentation was sloppy and no dressing in the bag. It was a bummer. Agave is a nice restaurant that wants to be cool. I may visit again but I think when offered a selection of local restaurants for special events, I’ll stick with my local favorites .

Went at the beginning of Annapolis restaurant week, and had no idea it started or that they were participating as there was no mention on their website. We were just looking for a different restaurant to try for girls' night. It was crowded and extremely loud. The bar area is standing room only and right next to the seated areas with no division other than a walkway. They were understaffed and not prepared for this Saturday night's service. We all tried the restaurant week menu to sample a little of everything. First course, we each chose a dip with chips, guacamole, queso and red salsa. The guacamole and queso were bland. The red salsa was tasty. Second course, Mexican rockets, chicharrones and vegetarian pupusas. We received 2 orders of chicharrones so by the time the vegetarian ones came out the 3rd course was being served. I did take them home and eat them the next day. They were the best part of my meal. My girlfriends like the rockets as the best of their meal, they said the chicharrones pupusas were just ok, not very flavorful, whereas the rockets were just the opposite, flavorful and delicious. Third course garlic pepper shrimp and spicy chicken quesadilla with a side of black beans and ginger, cilantro, garlic corn. The shrimp were just skewered grilled shrimp with no seasoning, the black beans were sent back as they tasted straight out the can with tin taste and all, the spicy chicken quesadilla was also bland but the corn was a tasty bite. We also had the original margarita with jalapeños and la casa especial. The margaritas came in pretty glasses but none of the drinks were calling for a 2nd round.I'd go back on a "slower " night just to give it a real try, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list of places to return to.

Food, drinks and atmosphere excellent. Service a bit slow for drinks (from the bar anyway) for a Sunday afternoon but they were crowded. And the drinks were worth the wait.

Very nice dining experience. The cocktail menu is very interesting with lots of tequila options. All the entrees at the table were very good and the restaurant is beautiful. They had a special pice fixe menu the night we were there which would have been a great option, but they ran out of all of the appetizers on the menu. Otherwise, a great dinner. We'll be back

We were excited to finally visit for the first time and will try it again when we can enjoy the outdoor patio. Menu selection was just OK. Service was friendly and appropriately attentive. We ordered two different cocktails: both were fabulous. Highly attractive layout, with lovely reception area. Very loud noise level, though. We visited early evening on a Saturday and could not carry on a conversation. That's why we plan to revisit for outdoor seating next time.

Had a 5:15 reservation half the tables empty and hostess seats us looking in the kitchen. I politely asked her if we could have another table. Lots of empty 2 tops and she said no they are all reserved. Well I had a reservation also. Ended up sitting at the bar but will pass on this place in future as good is average and service is poor.

Wanted to see what all the hype was about. Nice location in quiet west Annapolis. Beautiful building. But the atmosphere was not a lot to write home about and the food while good was overpriced for Mexican fare. Sad to say that this place is overrated.

Save your money. You're better off at Taco Bell....or any other Mexican restaurant. Completely disappointed in the bland food. Wait time for food and drinks was so unusually long. Way too many other options for Mexican so we will not be back.
