Mike is a natural teacher and master of his trade. He is patient and generous with his knowledge. When discussing tanks and their inspections requirements he showed me examples of safe tanks and cross-sections of failed tanks and explained how failures happen and ways to minimize the likelihood of failures happening.Mike is transparent and meticulous with his maintenance procedures which gives me full confidence in his work. I rented and subsequently purchased a tank from him and I will definitely be returning for fills, gear, and continued learning.

I was misinformed that the none Padi certification would not be a problem to finish the open water at any business. I called key west scuba, and they informed me that this was not true! Ok, no problem. I called mike and asked to have my purchase reimbursed. He responded that I would need to return to the store so he could use my card to do this. Maybe this is true! If it is, what A terrible system! Not a good experience.

I found Chesapeake Underwater Sports through a Groupon. Mike was super informative about the basics and my introduction class went so well that I ended up going for my open water certification! Group sizes were small, most times I was with my own instructor, Richard. Every instructor made sure we were comfortable and that the instructions were clear. The course also came with an online component. I loved my time working with these guys and plan to purchase my future equipment from their store! If you want to learn how to dive, this is the place for you!

I got my wife and I our open water certifications for Christmas this year. Mike was extremely helpful. Like most NAUI instructors, he explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions. When it came to completing our certifications and our open water dives, he was very quick to communicate with us while we were in the Keys. Thanks for all of the help Mike, we have completed our open water and Nitrox certifications, and can't wait for the next chapter.

This was the worst introduction to SCUBA diving I could have imagined. Immediately after the classroom session, we were shown and taught about the different dive suits. However, when it came to actually dive, no suits were made available, and we were expected to dive in our personal bathing suits (which we were not informed that we would need ahead of time, causing several of us to have to forego diving - despite the instructor's response that I was the only one).

Mike is absolutely great! I went to the store with an idea of what I was looking for based on my needs and what I had located for sale online. Mike had everything one could imagine, and made the process of choosing the items best for me, very simple. I prefer to support local business whenever possible and this was the perfect example. I'll continue to purchase all my dive equipment from Mike going forward.

The owner of this business is great! Mike helped me get ready for my SCUBA Diver lessons by providing immediate and flexible training plans. I've consistently received top-notch customer service provided by experienced professionals every time I visit. I highly recommend this place for all new beginners or advanced learners who want to become a better Diver. Don't let this small location fool you, they have a massive selection of the latest diving equipment, watches, and apparel.

Turned 50, raised my 3 daughters and now looking to start the next chapter of my life. Getting out to not only seeing the world but FULLY experiencing it! Walked into the Scuba Shop one day, Met Mike, watching a Video of recent dives they retuned from and decided sign me up. The Staff Mike and Larry are hands on, very knowledgeable in their craft, and take Scuba training serious. They are easily approachable and full of information. Their Shop in Eastport had all the essentials needed for me to get started on my quest to become a certified diver. Larry has been my Instructor thus far, he has a way of relaxing you and making you comfortable in the water! He has made my training experience fun. I look forward to seeing my training through to Certification and feel I've made Friends at Chesapeake Underwater Sports.

This year I started making my way through a bucket list of things. A big one that I've always wanted to do is become certified in scuba diving and see the underwater scene. A month or so ago I started my research on how to go about this. When I was done reading articles I was still confused. I went to Chesapeake Underwater Sports and Mike was able to answer all of my questions. Since then, I have had my first lesson in the pool. While it was hard for me to comprehend how breathing underwater would work for a human, mike took the time to explain and worked with me at my own pace. Now I'm able to breath underwater! I highly recommend them and can't wait for my next lesson. I live about and hour and a half from them and the commute is always worth it!

I used to be terrified of even the thought of swimming under water, but thanks to a self-dare and my first trial lessons at Chesapeake Underwater Sports I'm an aspiring open water diver. The instructors have decades of experience combined in the skills and techniques necessary to safely scuba dive. You feel fully prepared to be led through exercises in the shallow and deep end (5' and 17', respectively) of the pool. There are enough patient, experienced instructors who will let you learn at your own pace and will never push you beyond what you are comfortable with at that moment. It is truly a flexible, individualized learning experience. Classes are on Sunday mornings.

We took our first lesson here and we are having a blast! It was too far from home to continue with training, but Mike took the time to get us off to a great start. The most important thing for new divers in training is to learn how to stay safe and have fun. We did both in the first introductory class. We are seniors in fair physical condition but we were able to complete our dive training and we are going to the Florida Keys in 2 weeks and Australia in April. Thank you Mike (and staff) for starting us forward on a great new adventure!

Chesapeake's owner, Mike, runs an excellent scuba program and is very beginner friendly. This is a great shop to start your scuba training. Theory classes are held in the shop,,they follow the PADI program. They have a one day intro class and kindly let us apply that to our certification program. Mike is very gracious and allows extra sessions if you are having an issue mastering a particular skill. The cool thing is he has a group of his regulars who almost form a club - they take scuba vacations together and help teach classes, so the instructor to student ratio is very low, sometimes one-on-one.The shop is small, I but filled to overflowing with scuba supplies.Highly recon you contact Mike if you tears thinking about giving scuba a try.
