One of my favorite parts of having lived in DC! I started at the Riverdale Park location when I first moved to Maryland and then moved to the Ivy City studio. Always loved the sense of community and the fun everyone had in classes. The instructors were always helpful and welcoming. The space is clean and regardless of which class I took I always felt like I got a great workout in. Hot yoga on Monday mornings always made me feel like a new person haha. Love everything about this group, good vibes all around.

A great Bikram Hot Yoga and HITT studio with many wellness offerings. The instructors and staff are very welcoming to everyBody. It is evident that the instructors are well educated in their fitness area and they do an excellent job of accommodating all fitness levels of the students. The location of the studio is pedestrian friendly with many restaurant and food options nearby to enjoy after a challenging class. The practitioners here have built a wonderful yoga community that is very welcoming to both current and new students.

Make sure you don’t book through class pass because if you are running late because of traffic they don’t have a receptionist and you will be locked out and charged a $9 fee

Not standard heat: I've done Bikram a lot, and in a lot of studios around the US. I've also worked in a Bikram studio. It's hot and humid and is supposed to be. This studio does not stick to the standard for heat/humidity, which was odd since everything about Bikram is supposed to be consistent. At the first short break I asked if there was a warmer area of the room, and right after another practitioner remarked that there was a fan on! WTH? Not standard cuing: Not being 'on script' is fine, so long as the cuing is accurate and concise. There was a lot left out that would confuse any new practitioner - and did. There was a brand new person in the room who got a lot of awkward attention as the teacher couldn't effectively cue them into a posture several times and everyone else waited. Bad teaching: the instructor forgot to do the 2nd round of many postures. Practitioners started to tell her, "we didn't do the second time yet," and the instructor would literally try to defend her sloppiness: "this is my second class in a row," was an excuse. Other times she'd argue that we already did it twice, which we did not. Why are we even chatting?! Irresponsible teaching: What is unforgivable is cuing to move into a posture until you feel pain. This happened several times, very explicitly. "Bend back until it hurts" was one cue that I'll never forget and it wasn't the only one of its kind. There was another about moving into the hips "until you feel pain." Yoga, even Bikram, isn't about moving into pain and it's irresponsible to suggest it. Many people come to yoga, even Bikram, to feel better, softer, easier, more agile. Pain is a signal that should be avoided. It's a warning sign. After class the teacher asked if I was doing ok because I looked like a wet, exhausted mess - that's what you get in a Bikram class! I felt amazing (having ignored her awful cuing)! She was surprised. I don't think this person has ever done Bikram outside of this studio. I don't think this person knows anything about the body or yoga, actually. She has the Bikram sequence poorly memorized and wouldn't know good alignment from bad. I would not trust a studio that has any teacher cuing this poorly or irresponsibly. I won't return to this studio. Note: This was my second class at the studio. The first teacher was more capable. The room still wasn't 'Bikram hot,' and there were other icky cues or misunderstood techniques, but at least it wasn't dangerous. My overall sense is that these teachers do not go through the extensive training and know little beyond the script (if they know the script at all).

A great studio with a variety of 26 &2, vinyasa and yin classes (plus more!). The instructors are well-trained professionals and incredibly welcoming of new students. Always a great workout. Owners and staff are committed to the community and it shows.

I adore this studio! For me it feels like instructors really make a difference for workout classes and all the instructors I've tried so far (Maisha, Mike, Leslie) have been so great and lead the class so well. They really help you to push yourself to grow while also being accepting of your current capability. I'm just coming back from Maisha's class and she has such an uplifting energy! Would absolutely recommend to anyone. I'm so hooked to the feeling of bikram and would come all the time if I could! The other workout classes are also actually such a great workout and I would definitely go to more if more were ever offered

This place is clean. The instructors I've had class with are clear and descriptive (I'm a beginner, so this is important). The classes are just the right amount of challenge. The participant levels of expertise vary in the classrooms I've been in and everyone is very welcoming.

Very rude, mean, and discriminatory. The manager hung on on me while I was asking about their accommodations for disabled clients. She told me that my service dog who lays on a mat while monitoring my medical condition wouldn't be allowed in the studio during a group class. Why? Well because it wasn't fair to other clients. The law is that it's not LEGAL to this client to be blocked due to her service dog. They told me I would need to pay extra for a private class, because animals weren't allowed for group classes. Since this is illegal, I asked her for her name and she hung up on me. Happened 2/10/21 at 9:15am.

This is a great studio! BYW has excellent classes and teachers . I recently took the noon pilates and had an incredible full body workout. Miesha has great energy- keeps you moving and music was rockin. The studio is clean and everyone is very friendly- and right next to the marketplace, thats handy. Membership includes nice perks as well
