The prices at Safeway on smith avenue in Pikesville Maryland are very predatory. For example, a simple Jiffy Pop popcorn costs almost $5, go to Giant and the price is $2 and change. A small box of cereal was almost $7. Of course it was "on sale" for $1.99 for club members. I think it's extremely predatory and opportunistic to overprice food in this way. It makes me ride right to giant or target to do my shopping. It's a very unpleasant experience. When this was Shoppers it was not like this. Prices were reasonable and fair. Safeway is a predator and should be ashamed.

I grocery shop for my grandmother here and have always had a good experience! Since it switched over to shoppers it's brighter and seems to have more brands. The store is clean and the self checkout doesn't give me any issues. The staff are always helpful when I ask where certain things are and it's always easy to find someone to ask for help. They always have good deals as well! The quality of the food is good- the produce is fresh- they have a big kosher section as well The parking lot is well lit

Bought a frozen large Signature pizza. When I opened it, a short distance drive to our residence, I noticed that the entire pizza topping - cheese, chicken, BBQ sauce - was all on 1/2 of the sealed frozen pizza. The other half of the pizza crust was completely bare. First time in my life I have experienced such POOR QUALITY in a store brand name product. To follow-up, I called two different Safeway customer service phone numbers. I received insensitive and rude customer service. I think Safeway contracts some of its customer service to foreign sources, too. Even wrote to Safeway on their website and I have yet to receive any reply. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH SAFEWAY NOW!

Old guy in hot foods always has a terrible attitude. I get you never know what people are going through but he is like this all the time. I come pleasant and friendly but he always nasty and rude like he didn't want to come to work. Every time I ask for the meals that are literally written out or the count he never knows what is going on. He is dumbfounded about what's on sale or what pieces are supposed to be with which count Chicken is good though . Oh well.

Went to this store for the first time today since it changed from Shoppers to Safeway and was very impressed! For anyone who shopped at this location when it was a Shoppers knows how terrible it was- From the produce to the prepared foods to the employees (some...not all). Now that it's a Safeway there have been HUGE improvements!!! For the most part- the store has the same layout. The produce section is fully stocked- tons more selection and most importantly- the produce is FRESH, organizes, and abundant!! The prepared foods look great...from prepared meals- to the bakery section- to deli and hot foods area. The meat section has way more selection- both in types and cuts of meats. In terms of the employees- there were several on the "floor" restocking so when I needed to locate a product- I had ZERO trouble finding someone who was more than willing to help me. And when I did ask- I got a very kind and friendly response. The shelves are fully stocked with products- and they carry brands that the previous store did not. The freezer section was very well stocked also! I also noticed they seem to have more end cap displays- either that or these were more organized and seemed to "make sense" where they were located within the store. The cashier who checked me out was very nice as well! For anyone who wrote off this store when it was Shoppers- like I did- I'd strongly encourage you to check it out now that it's a Safeway- I am very very impressed! It's obvious that Safeway clearly understood what was wrong with the store when it was a Shoppers- and made the necessary improvements to gain back the clientele that the previous franchise lost. Way to go Safeway!! I am so happy that I no longer have to travel out of my way to visit ANY OTHER grocery store!! Welcome to the neighborhood Safeway!
