It’s always nerve wracking choosing the right vet, so I feel very lucky that I found Doc Side when I moved to the city. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them and am continually grateful for the care and support they show my precious pets. I’ve been to Doc Side for all sorts of things now— check ups, illnesses, an emergency visit, even anal gland expression on a cat (yikes!). They have always handled our appointments with grace, patience, creativity, and compassion.
I will admit they are a tad pricier than some other options, but not by much, and you get what you pay for. There have been a few times where I’ve called for guidance which they provided on the phone without urging me to come in for appointment. They have also matched a competitor’s medication price for me.
We’ve seen Dr. Tierney, Dr. Coughlin, and Dr. Peterson and have always been impressed by their quality of care. Additionally, the vet techs and support staff have consistently been phenomenal. I get anxiety over my cat’s health, and the staff do just as much for me as they do for them! You are in excellent hands with DocSide.

I have taken my pets here for 2 years since moving to the area. Staff are always friendly and inviting, ask thorough questions, and perform services quickly but not rushed. Vets always do a full check-up and explain anything concerning and have made sure I understand what is going on/should happen going forward with my pets' health needs. Clean facility with comfortable waiting areas.

Dr. Coughlin and Elizabeth have been taking care of our puppy, Blanca, a Boston Terrier. They have guided us through her initial vaccination process with caring and informative office visits and communications. They keep us posted regularly with her vaccination updates and provide thorough documentation for us. We are very happy we found this practice. Blanca is a very healthy 12 week old now!

An incredible vet office!
Out of town from NYC and needed a place to take my Great Pyrenees while in Baltimore.
Easy enough to walk to from many area of town and the service was A+
The place was clean. The flow of traffic was so well designed (you enter and exit separate sides of office to avoid puppy interactions if that is of concern) and it felt more like a calming chiropractor office for humans than dogs.
Staff was all very friendly across the board. I wish this were my regular vet!

Dr. Tierney is like a sleazy car mechanic who just wants to sell you dental surgery or prescription dog food.

Depressing. The staff; No one smiles or seems happy to be there. The whole place is beige and brown and feels like it too. $150 for this, $200 for that. $88 for the vet just to walk in the room. Nah, never again. I'll go elsewhere...

Clean, well staffed and efficiently run veterinary practice. Excellent communication from doctor and staff regarding my pet’s test results, prescription refills, upcoming appointments etc. Everyone we encountered was kind, polite, professional, compassionate
and enthusiastic about their job. Best vet I have ever been to.

Just really nice people that work here and do a great job working with my spicy chihuahuas. Was pregnant during one visit and they kept asking if I needed water, came back with baby another time and they helped me bring the stroller in and out, staff ran around once trying to find the owner of a car parked out front so they could avoid a ticket on another visit, etc.

My partner and I are new to the Baltimore area and we’re looking for a new vet for a three kitties. I googled around and ended up finding dockside and saw that there were a lot of good reviews and it was pretty close to my apartment so I booked an appointment online and paid the $85 deposit, when I brought my cat in for his appointment, it was really good. The doctor was knowledgeable and took the time to talk with us and so we decided to make appointments for two other cats on the way out with the receptionist. We saw that they had Saturday hours, which would work way better for us since both my partner and I work full-time so we booked two appointments and paid $$170 to secure the appointment for 9 AM on a Saturday. Fast forward to the next week I was traveling to California with my family when I get a call at 6:30 in the morning from dockside informing me that I had missed my appointment. I was super confused by this because it was a Wednesday and I didn’t have an appointment until the coming Saturday, I answered the phone and I let the receptionist know and she said that she would have to talk to her supervisor about it. I was then put on the phone with the supervisor who was extremely rude and condescending towards me. She didn’t apologize one time for the confusion and proceeded to inform me that they had brought in extra staff to accommodate the appointments and that now they are losing out on money because they can’t charge me the deposit and I’m not there for my appointments. She also told me that they sent me a email in the form of a receipt confirming the date of my appointment, which I never opened because I assumed that I wouldn’t need to confirm that an appointment that I made in person with a receptionist was on the right date and time. And she said she also sent me a confirmation text, which I never received and subsequently never responded to. Had I received such a text I would’ve immediately called the vet and let them know that the appointment was on the wrong date. I let her know that I was really sorry for the mix up, but it was not my fault that her receptionist scheduled us at the wrong time. I also let her know that I would never intentionally miss an appointment that I had to pay $170 for being that I am a 22-year-old law student and I don’t really have a ton of extra cash laying around , she let me know reluctantly that she would be able to reschedule me and I said can we do Saturday? She scoffed and was like we’re not going to have any Saturday appointments for the next couple weeks. Seeing that this was only my second interaction that I’ve had with this vet and I’m new to the area. I let her know that I would be taking my business elsewhere and that she could just refund the deposit.
This is all to say if you’re looking for a vet in the Baltimore area, you might want to try somewhere else before you book here. I completely understand why a vet would need to secure a deposit and why it’s important to show up for all appointments and I would never intentionally miss an appointment and the blatant lack of customer service and respect was disappointing.

This is my favorite Vet in Baltimore. The only one I trust to not overcharge and still give a thorough examination of my cats. I feel like the vets here really care about the animals and are not just running a business. Unfortunately I’m really sensitive so I tend to read in between the lines during all interpersonal interactions and, for context, I have gotten into arguments with people from the Eastern Animal Hospital and PetER. The VCAs are better but DocSide is still my favorite because I don’t have to worry about getting lied to or taken advantage of as a pet owner. I want to really sincerely thanks the doctors and staffs here for that.

Dr. Coughlin is excellent, as well as Dr. Tierney at past visits. Both are great at communicating information quickly and effectively based on their evaluation and seem to truly care about the animals. I feel as though they are thorough and upfront about their thoughts and engage in shared decision-making with me about their plan, costs, and expectations during each visit. Both are fabulous veterinarians that I trust to care for my dog. Their evaluation and recommendations seem very appropriate and they, along with several kindhearted vet techs/nurses particularly during our last visit, often give little tidbits of information that I have found to be super helpful in caring for my dog for the past 6 years. From the front desk, to the check out desk, and everywhere in between, everyone has always been extremely pleasant and punctual. My dog has never had a negative experience here, in fact, he gets excited to go inside the door. My dog also doesn’t seem to mind the peanut butter and/or animal crackers he receives as compensation for his time at each visit. I am very appreciative of DocSide staff and their kindness and continued thoughtful care for my dog.
