Service is terrible, their system is always down so that effects your money. They always have something going on with their system, more than bank of America do. My advice for anybody reading this is OPEN AN ACCOUNT SOMEWHERE ELSE. MECU isn't worth your time not your money, ppl deserve better. If you still want to open an account with this place then just look at this picture and know this is what you will be seeing every 3-6 months with no access to your money.

Bennilynne in the call center is amazing. I wish the company had more people who cared about customer service. She gave me hope with dealing with my MECU account situation as her empathy, attention to detail and determined nature to get the job done aided in me getting a response back from the team. Her tone is supportive.

So I had an account with MECU back in 2006 and it was totally different mindset. First of all, why have a phone number if no one ever answer. Maybe there should be a position available that just answer phones when tellers or sales reps are busy. Sadly the internet/ cellphones have truly put a huge obstacle when it comes to basic customer service.... There is no reason why the 752# is never answered. I thought it was just me going through that but after reading other reviews, I now know I am absolutely correct regarding my opinion with the office landline phones are never answered.
There's this thing called call forwarding, where the call can be forwarded to your cellphone so MECU clients won't feel neglected or ignored.
So when ppl come in and yelling y'all can't get upset bcuz you are creating the issue...
Come up with a solution for the problem instead of ignoring it, bcuz it will not go away .... please ✌🏾

I almost never leave reviews but this one got me. This bank is the worst. I’ve never seen a place where it’s impossible to get in contact with them. I spent 3 hours trying to get in contact with someone. When you do finally get in contact with someone, they want to transfer you to another department that also can’t help you. This is after the last person said the next department can definitely help. I’m not sure how to get anything resolved. Not to mention that you can’t find information for your specific branch so you are calling the call center the whole time. Then when you find a way to find a number at the branch, they are closed. I’ve just never seen anything like it. What kind of business and customer service is this? Who runs this place?

This is for the MLK location. Passive aggressive customer service at its finest. Based on my limited interactions with the staff here and other locations, barely disguised contempt for the customer seems to be a job requirement. It's why I do online banking whenever possible to avoid human interaction at mecu.

Terrible bank terrible employees terrible experience. I was tricked into financing a new car with these jokers. There is no easy way to pay the loan. I was told i could set up my loan for direct transfer from my main bank which i found out a week later ended up being a lie. The only way to pay this bill is 1 of 2 ways. 1) Have a payment deducted automatically once a month 2) set up a bank to bank transfer with nearly a week turnaround time before you can make a payment ( which incurs extra interest) Another problem was i was paying $500 dollars bi weekly towards the payment which was constantly being put to principal even though i would specify it was a payment. So even though I sent 3k within the 1st 2 months of the loan I was showing due for a payment. On top of that every time I called I was either hung up on, Lied to or told to refinance somewhere else. Which is exactly what i did. I have now refinanced with Police and Fire federal credit union which i 1000X more customer focused then this joke of a credit union.

I am a big fan of credit unions in general as compared to big banks. Unfortunately, working with MECU has been challenging enough to make me not want to continue working with them. tl;dr: Dealing with the fraud department interacting with members services interacting with card services has been super disjointed and they've failed to successfully cancel my credit card and not replace it 4 times, with each time me getting a call saying I need to replace the card. This has cost my credit score 150 points and will make me question my ability to purchase a house in the upcoming months as I had wanted to. I feel good after everyone I talk to, but the interaction of the different departments is horribly disjointed. Some people have sent me to other departments, who send me back to the first ones. I have started the practice of saying "Who are you? Who are you sending me to? What do I specifically ask the person you are sending me to? What if they cannot do what you say they can do?" I will not be trying to do anything with them except open a mortgage if the rates are truly cheaper, although I know for mortgages they simply open the mortgage then sell those mortgages to a mortgage manager. I hope they can make the processes regarding fraud and card services more integrated. I don't think its necessarily the employees, its the different departments and how each interacts in a way that does not effectively share information to meet my needs that frustrates me.

Save yourself trouble and frustration. each week that I get paid I pay my mecu credit card by transferring money to that account from my mecu savings. my most recent payment was deducted from my savings, but never posted to my credit card. just today, I have been on hold for over two hours trying to get some answers. no clue where that money is at, and I'm on hold again. 31 minutes this time. also, be prepared to have your calls dropped. and don't even try to contact the branch for help, they don't even answer the phone. One star is really being generous.

I received a form in the mail today, from mecu, advising me that my loan request of $15K could not be processed--I had never heard of mecu and obviously had never applied for a loan from them. It was very difficult to reach someone on the phone, and when I finally did they had no interest in receiving any informayion about the intended fraud.
