I wish I knew this place was a rip-off before I rented a truck from them yesterday. They charged me for damage on the truck when I never damaged the truck, period. They did not list what was "damaged."Barely had the truck for two hours and barely went ten miles total. The interior stank to high hell, and I told them that when I got back. They were too lazy to do a walk through after I turned the truck back in. Lesson learned with these people. Now I have to call and contest this today. Like I have that kind of time to wrestle with automated calling systems since NO COMPANY wants to make it easy to talk to a human being. Absolute joke of a company.

Last Wednesday, I ordered a pickup truck at the UHaul on Belair Road to pick up a couch. When I got there, they were having issues with their propane tank leaking and two guys with another car yelling at them. I was late picking up the couch and wanted to get out of their hair. As soon as I pulled out, I noticed the dash said the oil needed to be changed and there was a sensor error. Someone also left their phone in the car and a guy named "Stink" kept calling. The employees at UHaul told me to take a picture of the mileage of the car to make sure it was right but there was nowhere on the dash that read the mileage. I know I should have turned the car back in and said "forget it" but I really wanted this couch, the two employees there had their hands full, and my husband would have had to turn around and pick me back up. I understood that I would be charged $4 a gallon for not filling it up. I did not mind because I would only be using 1 or 2 gallons and I wanted to be done with this truck as soon as possible. The paperwork says I went 17 miles and used 5.8 gallons of gas. That means this truck got 2mpg. Two miles per gallon of gas. I could not find any information on the legal limit of mpg on a vehicle but I am suspicious as to if that vehicle would pass an emissions test. An oil change probably would have made a big difference, but I did not know how the car's electronic system was calibrated to warn about oil changes. It could put that warning up after 3K miles or when the oil was actually affecting the car. I tried to call the location but I ended up at a more corporate line. At first, I thought I was talking to a computer but then they asked me how to pronounce my name. I suspect he did not speak English and was reading off a script. That is not necessarily a bad thing but he could not understand why a truck that gets 2 miles to the gallon was an issue. He transferred me to a supervisor who tried to call the Belair Road location but no one picked up (although she told me that the manager at the location said the truck got 19mpg so someone must have picked up). She suggested I try to call them. However, she reiterated several times that I should have just filled up the car and it would have saved me money. That is not the issue. If I had put 5.8 gallons in the car and seen that I went 17 miles, I would still be livid. Whether it cost $24 or $16, 6 gallons of gas is ludicrous for 17 miles. It seemed like she wanted to blame me for this 2mpg truck. That is all this supervisor would say. Save yourself and record everything on their vehicle if you have to use this company. But don't use them unless there are no other options.

I'd give them zero stars if I could. Sorry but I'm just not used to being treated so rudely by staff:(. I still continued to smile even though I wanted to cry! These people are rude and just plain mean!

Extremely negative Uhaul experience with this location I prepaid for hitch install and took off work for the installation. I was left a message cancelling the installation the afternoon before my scheduled appt. Tried to call to discuss - no answer. Called Uhaul Customer Service. Got the run around. A complete lack of accountability and professionalism. I"ve never written a negative review before. Trying to warn others not to deal with these clowns.

My daughter found this location to store her school stuff over the summer break. She reserves a van and a unit. I arrived at the location around 6. An hour and thirty minute drive, on a good day, from the Rockville area of Montgomery County to Baltimore City. There was a young lady who was already being helped with an issue. There was also one other associate who appeared to be ending her day. Here's where things begin. Sharon Luette, who was wearing a "General Manager" shirt, sat behind the computer. Never acknowledging my presence. My mother, my son, and myself were the only other customers in the store - besides the guest with her own issue. Never once did the a basic greeting of, "Hi, I will, or someone will, be right you" part anyone's lips. When Luette finally decide she was capable of doing her job, I received a very disinterested, "Can I help you?" Frankly, it was the best she could do. I proceeded to give her information provided by my daughter. I pay for the truck and lock in one transaction and the unit in another. I buy the added insurance on the truck because it's Baltimore City. There was an issue were the "General Manager" had to ask the associate about information she should have known. Being a GM and all. And that was how the bank deposit should reflect in their system. So now, not only am I questioning her professionalism as a "GM". I'm now questioning her ability to aptly perform her job. Luette ask the porter to bring around the van and unlock the unit. He goes to do his job. The young lady who was working with the other guest, now free, says, "She's not going to look at the unit?" Luette says, "No. This is a reservation. And it's for college." The expression on the young lady's face was one of uncertainty, as it should have been. But, I didn't press the issue because I was trying to get out of there, pick my daughter and things, get her moved in, and back on my side of the world. Transactions finished up and now I'm just standing there. So I asked, "Is there anything else I need to do, know, or sign?" Luette says, "No", and starts to walk away. I said, "Oh, because I feel like I'm standing here looking like an idiot". She says, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm waiting for the van to come around,". Van pulls up. The guy goes to unlock the unit. I left my mom with the van while I went to learn how to get in the unit. I go back. No one is in the store from what I can tell looking in. And no one is around outside. So I take my pictures of the van, mileage, and gas gauge. Got in the truck waited for a couple of minutes. After no one showed up, pulled off and went to get my daughter. Given the interaction. It was service to be expected. Its now about 8:15pm and we're back. I catch the guy who pulled the van around to ask about a nearby gas station and decided I rather pay for gas then embark on a witch hunt. And this is when this experience took a death dive. The guy says, "Do you have 24-hour access? Because if you don't, you won't be able to get in and we just closed. And it's extra for the 24-hour access." My response, "I'm sorry, what?" I tell him that the," girl, Luette, never mentioned a 24-hour access fee and the mistake is made to assume that I'm driving that truck any further then that location". My daughter tries the code, no access. We're not leaving until we gain access because Luette has failed at her position of informing the customer of U-Haul's policy. I tell my daughter to get on the phone. Immediately, customer service begins telling us what they don't have control over. Wrong answer. My daughter makes her way to the office. There's people in there, but they refuse to resolve the matter. My daughter comes back and tells me what happen and now we're both digging into customer service. At least 45 minutes on the phone with customer service. The guy is t

I needed an extra large box to return a gift. I called with the dimensions I needed and a very friendly and helpful employee recommended the grande wardrobe and said they had at least four in stock. I drove to the store a couple hours later and was met at the door by an employee offering assistance. We confirmed that the grande wardrobe was my best option and then I checked out. He asked if I would like some help getting the box to my car and stowed it perfectly in my minivan. I was very pleased with the store and the employees. I will definitely shop for packing supplies there in the future.

Found a couch on craigslist off nearby Harford Rd. and needed a truck to move it. Came to this UHaul location with no reservation at 6pm on a Tuesday. On appearances, it is an average UHaul location, with lots of 10 ft. trucks available. Nothing special, until Jerone walks in. Jerone was single-handedly running this entire operation, between moving trucks, cleaning them out, and managing the front desk. He was quick and knowledgeable, and made this the EASIEST UHaul experience- both at checkout on Tuesday and return Wednesday AM- that I have ever encountered. There are times when you go places and thank god for making the little parts of life so easy. Jerone was my Uhaul godsend. Thanks, Jerone! You are awesome, and make this UHaul on Belair Road my go-to for the next move!
