Every business has an "Off Day"... but being a regular purchaser of bladed weaponry, I was disappointed with today's interaction.

Today my wife my 2 yo child and I were in Berlin and noticed they were giving free carriage rides on the corner by Pitts Street Antiques. So of course the line on the side walk was relatively long and went past the business in question. While waiting the owner came out in a belligerent manner and began ordering people to move away from his business stating that we were hindering people from coming in and that we have no idea how many people he loses business to because of this...but little did he know the few people that wanted to come into his building we actually held the door for including him when he came out to yell at us... this is not the way to talk to people or run a business. It's really sad honestly that he acted the way he did in public let alone to women and children....First of all the side walk is public property no one was blocking the door so he cant order people away.... second he probably gained a good bit of business because of the carriage rides being there because his business location is not the best it's off main street..third the town has given the permit for the carriage rides to be done there so I told him to calm down and take it up with the town not people in line to ride a carriage.....even after my wife asked him to calm down and speak nicely he still wanted to argue about it this is when I addressed taking up with the town... very sad to see such a friendly town like Berlin to get a tarnished reputation by the few bad eggs like this guy...ps he was so worried about losing buisness I know for a fact he lost all the buisness he could have had by me and the rest of the line that witnessed his behavior...If I could give a negative rating I would and I dont do this I dont bash but people need to know what they are dealing with... all he needed to do was to ask if we could make a gap to make it easier for people to enter....but apparently that's not who this guy is.... So sad.....

One of three locations, Pitts Street is the middle-of-the-pack both age wise between their three places (Pitts, Uptown, and Town Center) and building wise. Pitts had a very interesting feel to it with high ceilings (open) but densely packed vendors (crowded). Unlike Uptown, Pitts Street felt like there were more antique items (since the vendors really packed stuff into their booths) as well as non-Antique stuff like crafts or resale items. Pricing was all over the place, I think again by virtue of how much merchandise they've packed at this location. My suggestion would be, take your time and assess quality versus price. There's certainly great finds at this location, so it's just a matter of finding that diamond in the rough. Note: I noticed the folks that threw in the 1-Star reviews due to their concerns about the history and background of merchandise being sold and/or the comments made by an employee. One thing I encourage potential buyers to consider is that these locations are used by dozens of vendors. If one were to boycott the entire building, there will be sellers that may well 100% agree with your viewpoint but still lose out of sale due to the presence of objectionable items from an unrelated vendors or comments made by a cashier. Boycott that particular seller if you want to make an impact with your wallet, but to carte blanche rule out the rest of the inventory, keeping in mind that there's only so many places these sellers can afford to rent out booths at, seems unproductive to the whole support small business mindset these kind of shops promote.

Just had an extremely uncomfortable experience with the owner, who chooses to prominently display mammy / blackface dolls in his stores. When we asked why he sold them and suggested that they might reinforce racism, he showed us to the door. Please do not shop at this store.
