Mansplaining alert: had a painful 20 min shopping experience in which the associate dismissed my comfort/shoe preferences to tell me why those preferences were a thing of the past. Need better customer service that focuses on customer needs rather than lecturing on industry trends. I won’t be shopping here again.

While much of retail is now online, shopping for shoes and sneakers still is best done in person. There is no better place than RnJ. Incredibly knowledgeable, it was perhaps the best informed experience I’ve ever had. Felt like having personal time with a podiatrist or trainer. Truly exceptional in every way. Couldn’t recommend more highly.Footnote: I used to wear NB990’s for well over the past decade as a distance walker. After spending time and recommendations by staff, switched to the Hoka, Gaviota-4. Truly spectacular!

Fantastic customer service. I came in to buy a new pair of walking shoes as my current pair were giving me problematic foot pain. The very knowledgeable sales associate took his time in observing my gait, and then helping to figure out what shoe would help address the problem. Great to have a locally-owned shop where you can get helpful in-person service.

Nice CS and sports items. Some 50% discount for apparels and Tennis Rackets. I bought Yonnex Ezone100L half price. Will be back again soon.

These people are rude, unhelpful, and unreliable. I will never go back there. They promised me a restringing would be done in time for a competition and completely failed to do it. We didn't have the racket in time. Major problem. Then they told me there was nothing they would do about it.

I came here to get insoles for my plantar fasciitis. Joseph helped me and he was extremely knowledgeable, patiently answering my questions. He also put the insoles in my shoes and explained how the adjustment might feel as well as the ideal utilization (only a few hours at a time to begin). I highly recommend this staff and store.

Amazing customer service and a solid selection. Must have tried on a dozen pairs before we got the right ones. Will definitely be coming back.

I was looking and being indecisive with all the brands of running shoes, in addition that many running shoes do not have the colors I like. After browsing online and scouting endlessly on the colors and options I have, I heard from a friend about rnj and decided to give it a go there. I gave as much information to the sales association about my foot as possible since they are quite asymmetrical - low arch on one and normal on another. I also got inflamed and very painful experience from wearing the bad shoes so I have to be very very sure of all the details that go into a purchase. Returning would simply be a hassle to both sides. After trying on couple ones, I narrowed down to Ascis gt 2000 and asked for the specific color I remembered seeing online. They said they don't have it. I thought okay, may be I can wait until they do have the color I want then. In the meantime I saw long sleeves jackets and wanted to get some items to prepare moving up north and being able to run in colder climates. The manager shut me up as I asked about the balance between drying sweat and keeping warm. He said that I cannot go in for advice and then look for different colors online. For that I would only comment that I am not the one failed to keep a wide variety of color of shoes in stock. That failure led to me unable to purchase while my sneakers are in constant decay. That showed me that the manager has no intention to build relationships with their customers seemingly customer loyalty is trivial to his interest. TL DR In this store, if customers ask questions, customers are expected to commit to purchase regardless whether you find the one you want or not.

The business owner is dishonest and abusive!! We were customers and had come to this store many times before for shoes and tennis racquets. Recently (Dec 2021), we brought my daughter's $200 racquet for restringing and not only did they damage and broke the racquet but they blamed it on us!! They removed the strings and called us a few days later to pick it up and handed us a broken racquet and when asked, he (the owner) was defensive and abusive towards us claiming he did nothing wrong. He seemed nervous and was shaking excessively (inexplicably) and was threatening as he raised his voice at us demanding we leave the store and never come back!! He left us without a racquet and without any explanation as to why the racquet was suddenly broken and damaged!! What made it worst than the loss was the treatment -- an abusive and bulling man!! He will deceive people and pretend to be nice like he did to us to make them believe it is a good store until it isn't!! Worst service ever experienced in Bethesda after decades of living in this neighborhood!

The customer service and management at this store is just terrible, unreasonable and inflexible policies. I went to have my favorite racket re-strung and they ruined it such that it's unplayable. Then, I bought a replacement racket that was supposed to match the demo racket I tried and they did a bait and switch, claiming it was the same racket but it clearly was not and they refused to let me return it. The Manager was very rude and cared nothing about customer satisfaction.

This store has likely the worst customer service I have ever encountered. When I walked in, one sales person was waiting on a customer and a second person had just finished ringing up a customer who was chatting with him. Rather than cut short the chit chat, he continued for over 8 minutes. When he finally came to help, they did not have the shoe size I needed, despite their website saying that they did. I decided to try a different style, and asked to borrow a pair of socks (I'd forgotten mine in my car). He said that they had no socks. So I offered to buy the least expensive pair, just so I could try on a pair of running shoes. Those would cost over $12. So I silently walked out.

Great staff and customer service. They are extremely knowledgable and explain things well. I have chronic injuries and am never sure what kinds of running shoes to buy to prevent flare ups, they were so helpful. Definitely recommend!
