Greenbrier State Park is a charming and well-maintained outdoor destination located about an hour from Washington, D.C. The park offers a variety of activities including camping, hiking on scenic trails, and enjoying gazebos and picnic tables for family gatherings. During the summer, the park's beach-like area becomes popular, often filling quickly, but visiting in the fall provides a quieter experience with stunning fall colors. Facilities include a boat ramp, concession stands, and boat rentals, making it suitable for day trips or longer camping stays, with campsites costing around $30 or less. The park also has plans to improve the entrance and registration building in 2025, and from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the left turn lane into the park will be closed, requiring visitors to use Exit 35 from I-70. Starting Memorial Day weekend 2025, reservations will be needed to visit the Day Use Area on weekends and holidays, which can be made online up to a week in advance. October, Overnight, very good experience, MTB the big red loop ccw, would recommend, trails well marked. GBSP facility was secure and very well maintained, bathrooms were clean and well lit at night, trails right out of camp.
