Location is convenient. That's about all it has going for it. They are super under staffed so items sit in boxes waiting to be put on the shelves for God knows how long. It's not dirty per say but not clean either. Decent selection of cleaning products, snacks and drinks, little trinkets and whatnot for kids and a few houseware type items. It's what I would describe as "meh". Neither here nor there, you know?

Attn Dollar General corporate: During my visit to this very unkept location, I went to check out.......I do not use those self service kiosks as I feel they take away jobs.......your employees at this location are walking around yelling across the store......inappropriate and very unprofessional.....I asked the lady at the front to check me out......she stated" you have to use the self service" I explained I would rather her check me out....she stated I don't care I get my disability ....it don't make no difference to me about a job.....as this was an opportunity to snap back, I didn't not want to make a scene in front of my grandchild. Needless to say, I was clearly displeased but chose to go "high"....I like to support my local stores but this store is going waaaaay down. i will be sending this to the corporate offices and the store manager. From this point forward, I will no longer be supporting this location.

This store has gotten a little better with clutter since the last time I was in as they have done a complete reset. It looks a lot better. The employees can be a lukewarm as far as friendliness. At my most recent visit, an employee was on his cell phone while stocking shelves and he was VERY loud. I could tell any and everyone his business if I wanted. This is very unprofessional and it actually disturbs the shopping atmosphere.

Very friendly cashiers. It's close to home and I shop there every so often. Find out recently they sell expired foods only after I cooked the food and it tasted funny. I called to speak with the manager in case I got sick from the expired merchandise but noone answered.

One star is overrated for this store . Store visit Saturday, 2/5/22. The store is filthy !! There is bags of trash in EVERY aisle ,The aisle are blocked with broken down boxes and cartes. This is a fire and safety hazard!! The am ( assistant manger ) Robert was NO HELP, looked hugely disheveled, and did not appear to be public ready . He matched the stores Appearance ( hints see the pictures) . As a consumer of this store , if the ticket has a yellow dot and the box has a yellow sticker, and the sign says 50% off . Then the items are 50% off (pictures below). This store needs to close , it is a disgrace!! and a health hazard.

December 30, 2022Time: 11:50 am(Cash Back incident)I walked in the BOWIE location off of Laurel Bowie road to purchase some items.I went to self checkout and rung up said items just to realize that I don’t get cash back. I asked the the older caucasian lady cashiering at the time(Danielle) if I could be assisted in fixing the mistake. She continued raising her voice and belittling my mistake of not reading correctly.I began to feel uncomfortable and disrespected, and I asked for her name due to her not wearing her name tag. She refused to give me her name by saying “I have the right not give out my personal information.”In order to get to the result I wanted, I asked her “who fixes the transactions and where can I locate them”. She told me the manager, and that he was in the break room. She was still uttering unnecessary commentary. The manager came out in a bad mood, not wear a name tag either. He starts the process, I asked him what the lady cashier’s name was multiple times—He was not complying at first, being unnecessarily aggressive with raising his voice and turning red and deflecting my question. No manager should EVER behave that way. Period!As a personal who works in customer service, I would have addressed the issues 100 % different! I would give my name without argument and ask if they’d like to speak with my manager.It was a very unprofessional and uncomfortable experience—and I’ve been going here all my life.

this store is a hot mess. boxes everywhere. i don’t expect it to be spotless, but it was very messy. on top of that, the older lady cashier over charged me on my purchase. she was also rude and didn’t even try to fix it. a long line started to form, so i just left and til this day, i still don’t have my money back. i’m never coming here again and will be going to other dollar generals.

The Bowie Dollar General Store is an embarrassment to the community. Most of the time, it has boxes stacked all throughout the store with inventory in them. It's often so bad that if you have a basket, you can't make it through the isles because the boxes are are in the way. I've been in a situation where there was only one isle in the entire store in which the basket could fit. Oftentimes, I see the items I need in the boxes but can't purchase them. With this store, it's either all or none. When boxes aren't in the way, the shelves are empty. It's become a running joke in the community about how the store never has anything. This has been going on long before COVID. We've seen a whole isle with absolutely nothing on the shelf. They have been without certain items for months. The lotion shelves are nearly barren, the shampoo shelves are scarce, the knick-knack isle is a joke. One of the two cash registers was broken for several months which meant that the checkout lines were frequently to the back of the store, and the new self-check out register seems to stay broken more than operable. There's almost always an "Out of Order" sign on it. Furthermore, I've been there several times where the store was arbitrarily closed in the middle of the day, sometimes with a note saying, "We'll be right back", or with no note at all. This store has gone down big time. They change managers as often as I change socks. I seldom find anything I need for the past several months. I frequent the Southern Maryland store and one of the Carolina stores, and every time, they're clean and always fully stocked. Corporate really needs to look into or visit the Bowie store to teach managers how to run a store because it is an extremely poor representation of Dollar General.

This is absolutely the worst Dollar General I have ever been in carts of supplies ND empty boxes in every isle, but never any product on shelves. Disorganized mess everywhere

I like shopping here for home supplies, shampoo and conditioner and other things. I do like some of the people there. My only problem was that I apply for a job there like a month or two ago and I called but they phone line wasn’t working like a week and a half I went to get some things and ask if they still hiring and she said sorry but we just hire three people we not hiring anyone. I was a little upset about but it’s my fault for not coming sooner. I still get what I need there.

Very nice staff however one tough customer at register led to a 15 min wait in line. A nice military customer came in and announced to everyone in line that we could download an app and self checkout....meanwhile only one cashier was available and at least 5 people in line. None of us understood why management didnt tell us about app or open another register. Like I said nice staff but always a long wait. Thank you serviceman for letting me know about the app
