I’ve been coming to Hairoglyphics for years, and it’s hands down one of the best barbershop experiences out there. The service, the conversations, the energy—everything is consistently top-tier. Maurice is my go-to, but honestly, every barber in there gets the job done right. Malcolm, Pennie, Raeqwon—me and my kids have sat in all their chairs at some point, and every single time we walked out looking clean and feeling good. It’s more than just a cut—it’s a vibe. Highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of taking my 5-year-old son to Hairoglyphics Barbershop in Catonsville, MD, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a warm, professional atmosphere that immediately put both of us at ease. The shop itself was clean, well-maintained, and clearly organized with attention to detail—a reflection of the high standards upheld by the team.
Johann Pennie, our barber, displayed an incredible level of professionalism, patience, and genuine care throughout the entire haircut. Anyone who’s taken a young child for a haircut knows it can be a bit unpredictable, but Johann was calm, reassuring, and fully attentive to my son’s comfort. He spoke to him gently, explained what he was doing step by step, and never rushed the process.
The quality of the haircut was outstanding. Johann’s precision and eye for detail were evident in every snip and fade. My son walked out with a fresh, stylish cut that perfectly suited his age and personality. Even more importantly, he felt confident and proud of how he looked—and that kind of self-esteem boost is priceless for a child.
It’s clear that Johann takes pride in his craft, and Hairoglyphics Barbershop as a whole reflects that same dedication to quality, professionalism, and community. I highly recommend both Johann and the shop to any parent looking for a skilled, trustworthy barber who knows how to connect with kids and deliver top-notch results.

Malcolm has been my barber for 15+ years. Throughout this time, the quality and professionalism that I have received from him has been second to none. Always has my hair looking first rate for a very affordable cost. And the conversation is informative and educational about a variety of topics. If you're looking for the VERY BEST in barbers, then that would be Malcolm!
