I felt discriminated against during my visit to the bank. I entered the branch to make a withdrawal, and the teller, James, was extremely rude. I was being pleasant and friendly, but he kept asking the same redundant questions, such as, “Why are you withdrawing the funds?” “Why are you texting?” and “Why are there various transfers?”
In my head, I was thinking — you’re performing a transaction that’s taking time, so of course, I’ll be on my phone while I wait. There were moments when I no longer wanted to engage in any conversation, but he kept pestering me. I had already provided my ID, PIN, and verified all personal and account information. Despite that, he made me feel as though I was doing something illegal with my hard-earned money, which made me extremely uncomfortable.
The craziest part was that after he finished the transaction and I stepped outside of the branch, he followed me out and continued watching me. I couldn’t believe my eyes. That was the first time I had ever experienced something like that, and I had no idea what his intentions were. I’ve never encountered such bigotry in an establishment before.
I really like Capital One, but the service I received this time was unacceptable. Please do better.

Love when I walk into this bank and they tell me that they cannot cash a $100 bond. Between that and the scheme Capital One pulled with the deceptive savings accounts, they have become a joke of an institution.

o Unfair!!!
We got a notice from Cap One checking account... which we have had for about 45 years.
It said that there had been suspicious activity on our account. We called. Turns out we had paid our property tax from that account, as we had done many times before. We said it was OK. Paying property tax is a pretty normal activity. The representative said we were all set. All was fine.
Today I got a text from T Mobile, my excellent cell phone service. They said my payment had been rejected because our checking account was FROZEN. That doesn't sound fine... that payment has gone through every month for years. Paying T Mobile after the rejection and having to pay on the phone cost me the regular payment PLUS $20.
I called Cap One. I got a terrible run around. I had to send a picture of my driver's license to prove I am still myself who has had this account and used this account for over 40 years. (We opened this account in 1979 when we moved to Chevy Chase and the bank was called Chevy Chase Savings... bought eventually by this Cap One. Service has never been the same, but we have stuck with them. Apparently a very stupid move on our part.)
Now they tell us, again, all is fine. I have no idea if I should believe them or not. I want to take all our checking and savings and other accounts OUT of that sinister, cheating, incompetent bank. HA! That will cost them.
Avoid them, don't believe them when they say all is OK.
Follow up: I tried to send them an email that I would post this review everywhere I could. Another run around, ending with a representative that claimed he had no record of any of this. Someone is covering their deceitful tracks. Be careful with this bank if you are their customer. They will not give accurate information. And when caught, they'll cover their tracks and say nothing is wrong now. I can't believe them. Money will move.

Don’t ever come here if you need a fast transaction that doesn’t require ATM use. This place is S.L.O.W. On average there are two tellers and you will wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. Did I say you will spend time waiting in line…..waiting to get your transaction done.

I used to recommend that friends choose Capital One over the four megabanks, but sadly Capital One has lost its magic. They are worse now than the big banks because in addition to having all the same bad practices, the staff members at Capital One are especially slow, lazy, and rude. There was no branch manager when I was there. I was told that "she comes in sometimes" and invited to leave my phone number on a post-it note if I wanted resolution of a problem. I left my number but she never called. Capital One should close it's remaining physical locations because there really is no reason to have a branch if a branch can't accomplish basic banking tasks without alienating existing customers.

There was a super long line because there was only one teller - I saw the manager was just standing there so I asked if he could please help some of us in line, and he was like blah blah blah no. As more people came in, people who hadn't heard me ask him to help also asked him to help, and still he just kept standing around? We are trying to give you money sir? Three stars.

So I've been a customer since Cap One bought Chevy Chase Bank, which was my bank since the '90s. Not a huge fan of Cap One, but I stayed because of the convenience of the branch locations. Just now: Capital One froze my account with no notice. Sounds embarrassing, right, like I'm funding terrorism or dealing drugs or something. Not the case, just an algorithm seems to have tripped. Why? Best guess is the deposit from my mortgage refinance, which I put in the bank to hold for the remodeling contractor. So account frozen, and no notice to me as it turns out. How did I learn? When my credit card (which auto-debits) contacted me to say it hadn't been paid. Of course, now interest and fees are added to that. Capital One has refused to tell me it will cover those fees. There are three other unpaid auto-debits that I also need to clean up. Summary: Capital One freezes accounts, does not give notice, and does not help to clean up the mess. After 20 years, I will be moving on.

Do not make an appointment online, because this branch won’t honor that. Unfortunately, I learned it after trying to locate where it is and walking in a super hot and humid day for 20 min. I will never ever come back to this branch and is considering to close all my accounts with capital one due to the poor service.

ZERO STARS for the way I was treated today by the cashier and the manager. They made me feel like I was a CROOK for trying o withdraw a large amount of money. It wasn't what they said about my id, but HOW they said it and asked me "what are you going to use the money for?" REALLY????? I am going to close this account, and find a bank that caters to people of all races and a bank that thinks if a black woman walks in to withdraw funds that are over a "certain" amount, it should NOT be questioned!!!!!!!
