Kudos to Talbots and especially to Chona (Shawna) for her wonderful service. She immediately helped me find a pair of pants that fit my body type. It was so nice to have a knowledgeable, smart, professional and kind person help me find what I needed. Thank you, Chona! You made the dreaded pants-shopping expedition a pleasant experience once again!

The Talbots at 5320 Western Ave Chevy Chase has incompetent sales staff and Talbots, itself is disreputable. I returned a sweater that looked great on-line but in reality was a decade out of fashion, looking like it was taken from the $2 thrift store rack. I gave the sale woman (they were not ladies) my receipt with order number on top in BOLD for refund. She says there's no order number so she doesn't know the price. Realizing her incompetence, another sales woman took over. OK, you're not reimbursed $8.95 for shipping when you return misrepresented merchandise purchased on line (it's never available in stores), but Talbot has rigged their software to subtract an additional $1 besides shipping from the refund. That is dishonest.

The staff, especially Virginia and Leah, were very pleasant and helpful. I was looking for wool slacks. They are very hard to find, and they are mostly dark, solid colors. In the past, I used to be able to get plaids, like black watch and red and green, or tweets, but these were not available, so I was rather disappointed. Their woolens are woven in Italy. But I did find a few things that fit me.

Great customer retail service representatives, greet you when you entered the store and inform you of all the sales and deals that are going on as well. The store is clean, bright, merchandise is easly display and plenty of dressing rooms as well. I enjoyed shopping there because of the nice people who work there. Such a rare find in today world.

Customer service has gone down tremendously. I've been in a few times recently to do returns and the store has either been closed, or the employee handling my return seems like she hates her job. They're supposed to be open 10-5 but they always seem to closed on random days. I've talked to some of the other stores in the plaza while I've been down there and it turns out they're having a staffing issue? No wonder the place always has a bad vibe.

Talbots has been around for a good minute. This women's name brand is as classic as baseball, hotdogs, and apple pie! Shopped at several Talbots locations over the years. However, this location is unequivocally my favorite. Don't let the small storefront fool you! Interior is SPACIOUS! And, it's well-organized! Selection is top-notch. Awesome variety of styles and sizes. Love that they cater to women over 35. Inventory is a mix of casual and business attire. If you're looking for fads...go elsewhere! Talbots is preppy style 2.0...think pastel colors, Fair Isle sweaters, tweed jackets, and plaid dresses. FYI: Friendly and helpful customer service. Staff here truly care about your shopping experience. It's not unusual to see staffers go out of their way to assist customers. Don't hesitate to ask for assistance. Since I shop on Talbots' website often, I always make a beeline to this location for quick online returns. It usually takes a staffer less than five minutes to process my return. Pro tip: Talbots has the best return policy. They will gladly accept unworn, unwashed, or defective merchandise with a valid receipt within 60 days of purchase. Final Sale merchandise cannot be returned or exchanged.

This is for the Chevy Chase, MD store, which is awesome. The sales staff really went out of their way to support the customers in the store, and consistently went beyond the call of duty to help out. They were professional, very pleasant, and made my visit very enjoyable. That said, this wasn't always the case in this store, but I'm so glad the current personnel have made up for that.

I normally love this brand, and have been a loyal customer for many years. However, today I had a very disappointing experience, and feel the store demonstrated uncharacteristically bad service. I was so frustrated that I returned everything I bought, and left, determined to not patronize the business for a while.
