My experience at Steeplechase Apartments has been incredibly disappointing, with several concerning issues that have severely impacted my quality of life. Here's a detailed breakdown of my grievances:Management and Maintenance Accessibility: The management and maintenance team's lack of responsiveness is utterly frustrating. It's impossible to reach them as they never answer the phone, and their voicemail is consistently full, making it impossible to leave messages or report urgent matters. They don’t seem to care about their residents, which is proven in another review from their ex-employee who says us residents need an “exorcism.”Slow Maintenance Response: When maintenance issues arise, which is unfortunately frequent, it takes an unreasonably long time for them to be addressed. Daily follow-up calls are necessary, but even then, there's no guarantee of a timely resolution due to the communication barriers mentioned earlier. My microwave was broken and it didn’t seem like it was ever going to be resolved until I wrote a formal complaint and handed it off to the leasing office.Pest Infestation: The presence of mice within the walls and ventilation grates is alarming and unacceptable. Despite my best efforts to maintain cleanliness, I've encountered mice in my apartment numerous times, indicating a severe infestation problem that management has failed to effectively tackle. They also drop off letters saying you need to empty EVERY single drawer in your apartment and move furniture away from the walls or face a hefty fine. That seems awfully invasive and is not typical for other apartments I’ve resided in.Security Concerns: The parking lot is a magnet for break-ins and stolen vehicles, resulting in frequent police presence. Within the first month of living there, my car was broken into twice and had belongings stolen. The lack of parking restrictions allows for transient behavior, posing a safety risk to residents and further exacerbating the security issues within the complex.Administrative Incompetence: When I first was getting settled, the leasing office put the wrong Unit # on my lease. Seems like a bit of an oversight. They also charged me the wrong pro-rated amount for my first month and then tried to argue with me when I pointed out that the 11 days left in the month should only be ~1/3 of a month’s rent, not almost 3/4! Adding insult to injury, when I moved out, administrative errors compounded the frustrations I thought were behind me. My deposit return was delayed due to a misspelling of my new address on the envelope—an oversight that reflects poorly on the management's attention to detail and overall competence. Finally, be very careful signing a lease at this apartment complex as they hide in the one-year lease, in an addendum to your lease, an automatic renewal of TWO ADDITIONAL YEARS. And they will try to charge you an arm and a leg (almost $5000) if you try and move out after your first year is over. The lease pretty clearly says it goes month-to-month but they say the addendum overrules that verbiage. Seems very slick and dishonest. In summary, my time at Steeplechase Apartments has been marred by ongoing frustrations and disappointments. I strongly advise against considering this complex for anyone seeking a safe, well-maintained living environment.

Unfortunately, my experience at Steeplechase apartment was disappointing. The management's lack of responsibility was evident when we encountered a mice infestation in our kitchen sink that lasted for three days. This not only posed a health hazard but also showed a disregard for tenant well-being. I would strongly caution anyone considering this apartment complex!!!!

I need to let everyone know about the problems we've been facing at Steeplechase Apartments. We had a mouse in our sink, and it took them four days to do something about it. Even then, they didn't fix the holes the mice came through. This isn't the first time we've had issues with management. When we moved in, the AC and dryer weren't working, and it took them a whole month to sort it out, even though it was a simple fix. My husband left a bad review, but they deleted it. I can't stay quiet about this anymore. The management here is really, really bad, and everyone should know about it.

This is the second night I have stay awake and clean up a flood in my apartment. On December 17, 2023 I reported the issue several times and through different bridges of communication. Nobody came until next day and he just looked and said they will send a contractor. Today, January 9, 2024, my apartment is flooded again. In three weeks, contractor never came, office does not give updates (and good luck to get in touch with them) and I had to leave my job and I stopped by at Steeplechase Office and miraculously the leasing agent was on the phone but he was hanging up and I started to explain him what happened. He said that was the apartment it was being reported. (Guest what, he advised my wife to call maintenance emergency line, if you’re talking to the resident and hearing an emergency ticket, WHY THE HELL THE RESIDENT HAS TO HANG UP AND CALL AGAIN TO REPORT THE ISSUE? Beyond incompetence! My wife called emergency line which has a voicemail full) Property Manager came out and said they will address ASAP, they came and left a wet/dry vacuum (which I’ve been using for the last three hours to avoid my apartment to be flooded entirely) at least did that for me. But, the negligence and inoperability from office and maintenance is beyond imagination, this issue must not be happening again if somebody will do a call get in touch with a contractor. The other pictures I am attaching were from issues on the windows frame which they took months to address… By the way, the ticket for the floor lifting up on the living room and dining room has been there hanging since October and accordingly to them, they were mean to send a contractor, the last picture shows how the floor cracks are filtering water with mud… Still waiting for that floor contractor also…

Of all the places I have had to deal with this was the best experience I have had. Cozy living and friendly staff! Happy to call it my home and close to all of my favorite shops.

If your looking for the full package, the Steeplechase apartments are great! They not only have a pool, gym, gourmet kitchen, wood floors etc, but they are cheaper then a lot of others with the same in the area. I definitely recommend them!

Property is well kept. However management sucks! The property manager is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & ARGUMENTATIVE.. She speaks to EVERYONE (including her staff & the other residence) as if they are children. She NEVER smiles & is not friendly to anyone. However, her assistant is PLEASANT, HELPFUL, & OFTEN greets me and other residence with a smile. This place would be 5 star if they got rid of the unprofessional property manager and hired people who are actually happy to manage this property.

This community is situated in a safe and quiet area. The location is very convenient with many grocery stores nearby, a light rail to Baltimore just a few minutes away, and hiking trails. The scenery here is quite beautiful in the fall. Also, I found the leasing office staff, who got my lease signed within a couple of days, and the maintenance staff to be very friendly and respectful.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! Wondering why this apartment complex has such poor reviews? They could care less about their property or the people who live in. If you like weeks without having things fixed, your car being broken into multiple times, loud music at all times of night, or animals constantly getting into the vents? This is the place for you. Over five years of residency and then I get hit with a termination fee. I ask for an exception and I get a “tough luck”. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

I have only been living here for a few months and I love it here. I am 3 mins away from my job, there are places to eat not that far, and the grocery store right up the street. The process of me moving here at first was a little rocky however once we got everything squared away it has been nothing but a breeze. Maintenance are pretty nice and speedy. Overall I love living here.

Be aware of what you're getting! The apartments themselves are nice and at a fair price for the area. I've now lived here for 2 years. The management and leasing office are the biggest downside. Please use caution too, there is an incentive going on right now for residents to leave a good review to be entered into a contest for half off next months rent, so most reviews from October 2023 will have some serious bias. Good business tactic, but still - be aware! The complex recently switched payment portals and gave very little notice about this, I never saw an email. My payment is set to autopay, so I had no reason to believe my rent wasn't going through. When I got a notice on my door about paying, I checked my portal, saw no balance, called the office, and they told me I should be good to go. A month later, I get a notice on the door saying I have not paid the last 2 months in rent and that I need to switch to the new portal, including a late fee that was put on my account. When I called the management about the late fee, there was no understanding, and I was made to feel like this was completely my fault and that it's ridiculous I ask that the late fee be waived. On top of this, I typically have to call several times to get someone to answer the phone and the maintenance is very slow to respond. Whenever leaving a maintenance request, I typically have to follow up several times and it usually takes a couple of weeks for anything to get fixed. I'm sure they are doing the best they can with the staff that they have, but overall it's not great.I have always felt safe, but I did have the catalytic converter stolen off of my truck in the parking lot here. Not the leasing office's fault, but still not great.Additionally, we have had issues with mice and roaches. We have maintained a spotless apartment and have even filled holes ourselves due to lack of response from the pest control team.Overall, this is a disappointing situation, because we feel that if the office, management, and maintenance were more responsive and understanding to their tenants, this would be a solid place to live.
