“When I used to work in the area, this was one of my favorite Safeway to go to. They deli always good. They tuna salads, customer service. Everything was always been on point. Haven’t been in a while till today. They still have the same old when I was working in the neighborhood there three years ago.”
“If you fold your money in half, you double it quickly. I think kids have hair grease and wish they could cash a check that says a reputable grocer's name. Do not sign the check before you go here, that's not for you. She'll draw a line on it and be winky. You should honestly want to buy orange juice with your transaction.”
“Perfect placement in the neighborhood, great establishment with everything you need in a convenience store and more. Very polite staff, especially Rudy.. they go out of their way for you. 5/5.. 10 stars if I could! Thank you.”
“Thank you, Giant food for coming to the rescue! I was calling all over town to find some chopped liver. Due to the Jewish holiday of Passover most Giant Foods were sold out. I called and spoke to the deli department and I was told they had plenty of chopped liver. So, I hightailed it over and got my chopped liver and about a dozen other things, that I probably didn't need and I was out the door. I took off one star, because I had called customer service twice and they left me on hold for ten minutes and never got back to me. But, I called and pressed the number for the deli and my call was answered promptly and with expertise. Also, the parking lot is a real nightmare, so tread carefully. This Giant food is well stocked and clean. Thanks Giant Food for helping me be a chopped liver Super Hero. : )”
“I have written several other reviews of this store which I thought could update each other but that doesn't seem to work, so basically any review with my name is a continuation of the same review. This store has a large display of local products, originating from anywhere Harris Teeter operates, so MD, DC, VA, NC, PA. There is no sign indicating that the display is for local items, because they are very different, but it soon becomes clear that it is the only thing they have in common. So lots of sauces, spices, chips, spreads, soup, etc. Great way to support local businesses. Perishable local products are scattered between the freezers and refrigerators. But Harris Teeter has a strong focus on supporting local businesses and it isn't just empty promises.”
“it is a very fine store and one of the few stores that sells freshly squeezed orange juice. I have rarlely been dissatisfied with anything there and if I am they take returns immediately and don't ask questions.”
“Clean store, with lots of options in every department. Some shelves were low (or lacking) items, especially in the produce department. However, the prices are good, and the sales are exceptional.”
“This is my favorite grocery store! Selections seems to be pretty similar to other stores. Service has always been great. Prices are competitive to other stores too. I love coming here to look at the cheese selection. The cheese lady is super nice! You can tell she really enjoys what she does and she's always willing to give you a sample of what you choose before you buy it!”
“This Giant has lots of what it does have, but I used to live near the Silver Spring Giant and the lack of a hot bar is glaring. It has packaged prepared foods like chicken, but they are cold, not hot, so they need to be reheated. You can't just grab some hot fried chicken and take it to a summer picnic. There is a salad bar, I realize not every Giant even has that, but a hot bar would be appreciated. They do have sushi, but no actual sushi bar, it's all premade. Several lights in the frozen section were burned out, both in the ceiling and in the freezers themselves, making the aisle noticeably darker. The frozen meals section seemed limited, although there was plenty of frozen stuff in general. The layout took some getting used to. The canned fruit section needs help, especially the store brand--you should always be able to get canned fruit in juice, no added sugar. They had every version of fruit cocktail/mixed fruit except in juice. Light syrup, heavy syrup, water with artificial sweetener, etc. In juice should be the default. Canned fruit doesn't need extra sweetener, calories, etc. Del Monte had it, but the store brand is much cheaper. The fresh bakery section seemed a little lacking. When you don't have a car and need a supermarket next to a subway, this a great place to go. In DC only Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, and Wegmans have full inventory. If you want a 1 stop shop you have to go to one of these. Amazon and Whole foods don't cut it. There aren't that many right at subway stations, most are on bus lines. Bethesda has giant and safeway walking distrance but not right at the station. So this is a good place to stop on the way home.”
“I was out running some errands after work and my daughter messaged me to pick up some chilled healthy queso. It is a favorite of ours and is used for snacking & cooking. I am never really sure where to look for it in the store so I asked an employee at the front of the store? I was told to look for the queso in a cooler on the wall in the back of the store with Mexican cheeses and other chilled dips. I made my way along the back wall until I saw the correct cooler. There were only 2 brands of queso on the shelves. They had Cacique Queso Blanco & Gordo's Cheese Dip. Both were 16 ounces and cost little over $5. The Cacique brand was familiar to me & had mostly the same ingredients as Gordo's. The difference was that the Cacique brand has canola oil in it something my daughter tries to avoid. So I got Gordo's & went to the checkout lanes. It was after 6 pm & they weren't very busy. I entered my Kroger/Harris Teeter phone number for store points & was quickly rung up. You enter the checkout lanes in Harris Teeter stores at an angle. For some reason this always makes me have to think which checkout lane I'm entering! Until next time be kind to each other. #harristeeter @yelpdc #grocerystore #quesodip”
“I had the best experience at the Olney Safeway today! Usually I shop closer to home at Giant in Colesville or Safeway in Cloverly--with generally less than positive experiences. At the Olney Safeway I had a lovely conversation with employee Joe about wines (he spent a long time with me making sure I got exactly what I want). I got my booster shot from the friendly and competent pharmacist, and met a chatty and efficient young cashier. I found shelves stocked. I will definitely drive a few extra miles to return to Olney Safeway.”
“well i didn't think it would be fun coming here but i actually met a very nice employee that really helped me out named george and he honesty changed my opinion on the company thinking now you have some good workers so if i ever stop in maryland again i'll be sure to come back as this convenient store changed my view on others”
“This small-chain grocery store has a better selection than most single-location grocers, and quality similar to larger chains. The particular delight is the butcher. You MUST have a cut just for you one day, and that day is today! Produce prices depend on the season and supplier-- I recently saw a type of squash drop from $7 per pound to $2-and-change a pound in three days, so watch for bargains. They had Cortland apples the other day when nobody else did (they are amazing for pie, less tart than Macintosh so use less sugar). The employees are friendly but they assume some folks can't comprende, sometime with amusing results. Naughty, but have a sense of humour about human nature!”
