My 6 year old adored this museum. The fascination for trains, tracks, and locomotives in general is well quenched here at the museum. The street car ride, just makes the entire experience multiply. To add to this, having Mr & Mrs Claus just made it more memorable for the kids.Tips:1. Parking is free on site2. Book well in advance as it gets sold out3. Plan for 45-60 mins visit here

Pleasant ride. Not very large, but good for kids that want a trolley ride.

Not a great visit. It seems very well funded and well staffed although only open 1 day a week. I arrived around 3:30, to find out I had to wait until a 4pm tour(30 mins) followed by a trolley ride. The museum is small and you basically explore all of the exhibits besides the trolley barn prior to the tour... that being said, my tour was a disaster. The young gentleman "conducting" the tour needs significantly more training before he should be allowed to lead tours. He was combative when people asked questions, a couple abandoned our tour and emerged later with an older gentleman who was our trolley driver and thankfully he took over the tour. Perhaps spending an hour here for 1 trolley ride is supposed to remind you what it used to be like... I just felt as a guest, you are an afterthought to a trolley collection and a bunch of people playing dress up. I wouldn't recommend my experience to anyone.

The museum is on the smaller size, but informative. The kids liked the 1 small model trolley, the silent films, and the trolley ride. The "guided" tour was alright. The trolley ride was the highlight. It was good to experience once.

Great place to visit with your kids, they will definitely be captivated for an hour or two.The museum futures a collection of trolleys from north America and Western Europe.Price for entry: $5.00Ticket type: Ticket to ride on the trolley. The ride lasts about 15 minutes and the trolley is riding on a 2 mile track.

It was fun to dive deeply into this somewhat hidden part of American history and to experience it firsthand with a trolley ride through the woods. The staff is friendly and laid-back yet enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge of trolleys and streetcars, especially as they relate to the DC area. A great place to visit for young children and the young at heart. Sadly, this place is only open on Saturdays.

Had a wonderful time here with my very active 3 year old son. The staff was very friendly and the tour was great. Kids really enjoyed the trolley ride.

This is a great museum! My wife and our friend checked it out a week ago. They are open on Saturdays and do guided tours by the hour. The tour gives you a ride on a vintage trolley which was fun and the foliage was beautiful. You also get to see a number of vintage trolley cars as well as the exhibits inside that include a theater showing silent videos featuring the DC trolleys.

My boyfriend and I attended the Sip, Rock N' Ride event at the National Capital Trolley Museum. When you enter, if you haven't bought your admission ticket, you can approach the ticket window or purchase them inside the gift shop. The gift shop sells souvenir t-shirts, plates, shot glasses, jewelry, books, movies, and toys. After passing the gift shops, you'll see rooms playing silent films and exhibits along the walls detailing the history of streetcars/trolleys, its impact on its community and electrification process. In the barn, there are about nine streetcars on display, one of which you could walk on and take a seat. It was cool to look at old advertisements on the streetcars/trolleys. It's also neat that their trolley collection came from various states (including California) and countries (including UK and Canada). Each trolley has a country flag from their country of origin. Throughout the event, there were trolley rides every half hour. It gave us an opportunity to ride on different historic streetcars/trolleys (including an open roof boat shaped trolley called Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a double truck, single-end PCC city car called TTC 4602. It was pretty educational for the people of all ages (especially the little ones).

Very interesting look at the history of trolleys over the years. Lots of exhibits and old trolleys you can see & touch. They even give rides on a working trolley.

Small, but very nice museum of street cars with short course you ride through the woods for a few miles, round trip. Emphasis on DC's Street car history. Dedicated, friendly and well informed staff! Recommend for school and family outings.

Very nice visit to this museum this afternoon. They have really nicely curated displays with a neat and tidy interior. The volunteers were very friendly and informative. This is a great way to learn about DC transit history as well as about history of electric traction in general. Well worth the visit and I'll definitely be back again.

Toy trains, toy trolleys, lots of rral trolleys in the wearhouse portion of the facility. My favorite part was the ride on the trolly through the woods. It's exactly what you would expect of a trolly museum. My young son seemed to like it.
