UPDATE: Talked to customer service for Lifetouch Photography and JCPenny, the managers were SUPER helpful! They allowed me to schedule a reshoot which, by the way, was an EXTREMELY great experience with Austin! He was patient, kind, and gave direction for our family to look our best and feel comfortable. I appreciate the staff who were able to capture and retake the memories with our family. Thank you for your time and assistance with the matter. I give this review 4 stars since I would’ve liked the positive experience to have happened the first time we took photos other than that, I left the studio with a smile on my face and will continue to have my family photos taken at JCPenny! ?
Original Review: Been coming here for over 3 years and never had an issue until today!!! I just had a baby and wanted family portraits. My photographer, Summer, was rude and picked THE WORST photos taken for the digital album. Paid $130 just for my eyes to be closed in some of the photos and my youngest daughter’s face covered and didn’t even get to do the proper family portrait positions. Very unhappy with the quality of the photos since she rushed through it and don’t take the time to make us look our best which is her job. Have not been able to reach a manger or anyone after taking the JCPenny Survey and don’t plan to come back to the Columbia Mall location or maybe any of them for that matter. Look at the photos and tell me that you wouldn’t be upset that out of the 35 taken these are what she picks! These were the only 3 i had with my daughters and each one of them is awful! Eyes closed in one, her face covered in the other, and hair is messed up in the last one. UNACCEPTABLE

If I could give a less than 1 star review I would. I scheduled a family portrait as a mothered day gift for this past Sunday May 5th at 1:45PM. We arrived promptly and got checked in. We were then informed by manager, Samantha Jones, that there was 6 sessions ahead of us and that we’d have to wait. We walked around for about 45 mins and checked back in and Samantha then informed us it was 4 sessions still ahead of us. We then proceeded to eat lunch for an hour and came back to Samantha again informed is that there were still 3 sessions ahead of us. After 3 hours of waiting and being lied to, we were forced to cancel our appointment. This was an awful experience and left a distasteful impression. Would not recommend!!!!!

Experience was terrible.
Lady who took my daughter pictures had an attitude. The register had no change. Had to follow her around to get change when she could've just called for a LOD. She act like she didn't know what she was doing. She tried to limit the amount of pictures we could take together. She started helping 2 other people before she was even finish with me. I never received my email receipt. I can go all day but I digress. She said she was from Dover.

Recently I had a winter coat malfunction. I mean, I just bought this new winter coat two months prior and the zipper on it broke, to the point where I could not keep the jacket zipped and I looked ridiculous. I was about to head on a trip and I was in need of a functioning winter coat before leaving. My faith in department stores have dwindled as they have shrunk in their footprint from their overall commercial footprint to their in store footprint. I wanted and hoped that JCPenney would be helpful in finding a winter jacket. When I walked in, I was upset because, in the midst of winter, they had already started to clear out the winter gear and replacing it with the summer gear. I mean, yeah, I get it, you want to get a head start on the sales, but we were still in the prime winter months and you had a mere handful of winter jackets left over. In sizes there were either too small or too big for me. I was exhausted at this point as I had been to several other businesses that day looking for winter coats. Then, well, then I found one. I took it off the hanger, tried it on, and it fit perfectly, or at least as close to perfect as it could. With my stature, I still looked like that kid from A Christmas Story, but it worked. It was warm, had a removable hood, and most importantly, a workable zipper. Then I saw the price...yikes! I was determined to see if the price tag was correct. I took the jacket with me in search of a price check scanner in the store. Lord, was that a mistake. I searched high and low for a scanner only to discover JCPenney does not have one. See, this wouldn't have been a problem except for the fact that it was on a sale rack and not listed as one of the items actually for sale. After traversing the store and seeing the lines at the registers, I found myself in the jewelry department of all places. Here is where I asked the gentlemen behind the counter if there were any price check scanner and he told me no. He offered to scan it for me and I found out that the price was actually 60% off. I thanked him for doing that and asked if he could ring it up as well. He obliged (and saved me so much time instead of standing at those long lines at the other registers). He even went the extra mile and walked with me toward the mall entrance to ensure I had a bag to cover the coat. Place the coat in it, tied it shut and I was on my way. With a new, workable coat.

Great location, clean and organized store. We always park at this JCPenney when going to the mall because I love walking through this particular location. The staff are friendly and helpful, as well.
