Dickerson Conservation Park has a pleasing view from the parking lot going north. The C&O Canal Towpath gets into a close section where the river is quite close and the canal has water. The largest tree in Maryland (sycamore) is located a few hundred yards down the river close to the lot. They love the canal portion but have to watch for horses and what they leave behind.
