Owners are selfish. Cutting public access more every year and throwing a hissy fit limiting hours and putting spikes on the exits . Claiming 'crime' when it's the middle of the woods just a big joke.

Awesome range of trails. Beautiful, easy to access views, close to the parking areas. Make sure to get a trail map on the way in! It's easy to end up on a much longer trail than you intended. Well marked colors but no signs once you're on the trail. Please put a few dollars in the donation box on the way in. Suggestion is only $5 which is cheaper than the state funded park entry fees. They keep the trails very well groomed. Many small kids on the trails, so they are easily navigated by all. They are wide and well marked. There are porta pots, many parking areas, tables and benches.

Great little hike. Be sure to wear the right kind of shoes and gear. There are different trails, all are well kept, but some are definitely not for the faint of heart. The Orange trail especially. Depending on the time of year and hour of the day, you can be the only one on the trail.
Be sure to bring $5 or so for the self-pay parking box.

Took a bunch of senior citizens on a bus. The day was overcast but seniors could still see great views. Looking forward to having a picnic on a better day.

Sugarloaf Mountain is a hidden gem in Maryland that offers a perfect retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Located just an hour from Washington, D.C., this privately owned mountain provides a peaceful escape with breathtaking views and well-maintained trails.
What to Love:
1. Scenic Views: The summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, especially stunning during fall when the foliage bursts into vibrant colors.
2. Hiking Trails: The mountain features a variety of trails ranging from easy to moderately challenging. The Blue Trail is great for a leisurely hike, while the Orange Trail provides a more rugged experience.
3. Accessibility: It's a short drive from major cities, making it an ideal day trip. Ample parking is available near the base.
4. Family-Friendly: Many trails are suitable for families, and the open spaces are perfect for picnics.
Things to Consider:
Crowds on Weekends: It can get busy during peak hours, especially on nice weather days, so plan to arrive early.
Limited Facilities: There are basic amenities like portable restrooms, but no water fountains, so come prepared.
Private Ownership Rules: As it’s privately owned, there are some restrictions, like no pets on certain trails.
Overall Experience:
Sugarloaf Mountain is a great mix of natural beauty and convenience. Whether you're a hiker, a photographer, or someone looking to enjoy a peaceful day outdoors, it has something for everyone. It's a must-visit for anyone in the DMV area.

Screw this place! 4pm on the most beautiful November 1st you can get- not a single cloud, 79 degrees, still colorful foliage... and CLOSED?! 4pm closed, no access to any trail. Not cool.
Apparently you can't pick onions either?
